Let's be honest here:  all sequels bring new ideas to the table that alter how you view the original work.  The problem with Star Wars is how it's being presented.  The creator is, for some inane reason, encouraging people to watch three sequels before the original.  That's the main problem here.  If you watch the films in their proper order, you will have the original context of the original film, and, only after you've learned that, will you discover new contexts.  But if you watch three sequels first, that entirely steamrolls over the original film, and all you have left is this new version of events.  Even the back of the currently released boxset tells you right off the bat on the back of the box that Darth Vader is Luke's father.  Why?  Well, I would say that that's supposed to tie into the idiotic idea that you're supposed to watch those sequels before the original film, but even the prequel trilogy boxset gives the exact same information.  So I guess what I'm really trying to say is that George Lucas is just an idiot.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Yeah, I feel bad for anyone who watches the whole series for the first time as 1 2 3 4 5 6.

The Vader twist is ruined, the Yoda twist is ruined, the Luke/Leia twist is ruined, etc etc. I really don't think Lucas has thought the 1-6 being "the order you're supposed to watch them in" thing through.

I prefer "hack" :D

He's, like, putting completely wrong ideas into his new films, adding changes to the originals with completely absurd rationalizations, keeps talking about "movie for kids", about his "vision" and how the original versions should best cease to exist, despite two of them not being technically his, how he just makes Dooku roast Anakin for no other reason other than having Obi-Wan fight him alone for a while, then includes a space prophecy for no reason that he doesn't establish in the movie, but explains in a completely laughable DVD feature, then suggests to watch the prequels first while they're clearly written as PREQUELS building on top of what is coming after... he doesn't know what he's doing, he just does and says random things without any justification or thought - he's a hack :D

@ Mielr: I'm convinced that Youtube comment sections are the rubbish dumps of the internet, where the uninformed and imbecilic gravitate to compete for the title of dumbest person alive.

Yes there are quite a few like that there, but it's worth putting up with the imbeciles for the few who have never seen the original scenes before, and thank me for uploading them.
I feel like I'm providing a public service for those few people. ;-)
It's not as bad as TFN, anyway.
