I don't know "Curb Your Enthusiasm" from Adam.
Except for Larry David.

I thought it was Hurley because he's the only one I can remember feinting at the sight of blood. I just think its funny that you don't already know him as "Hurley"...

That's a name I did remember, but I can't help but think of him as the drug dealer from CYE.
I wonder how many jokes from other shows you'll get now that you're watching LOST (kind of like how "Mafia" is funnier now that I've seen Godfather).TV's Frink said:

What, like this?
btw, I've managed to avoid exact spoilers on how the show ends, but things like that give me more clues than I probably want. And my wife refuses to watch with me because she did find out exactly how it ended and she doesn't want to "waste the time" now.
Jane Austen's Mafia?

We never did find out the hilarious way he got that nickname.

I have no idea what that means, and I watched the whole thing.TV's Frink said:

Well, the whole thing wasn't the dog's dream. But people kept asserting that it would be. That's the joke.
Ha.
Ha.

Well, I lol'd.
I really loved that show. And really, really, really, really wanted a worthwhile ending to make it all worth it... and unfortunately the ending was pretty awful... the whole last season was pretty awful... but the ride there was still a lot of fun.
A lot of disappointments with things you think ought to have been explained left unexplained, and stuff that should have been left unexplained given entire episodes dedicated to their over explanation.
I think in the end overall I'd still have to say it is a sci-fi show that is extremely worthy of watching your way through at least once... just so long as you don't expect too much out of it.
At times I can't help but wonder how great the overall show could have turned out had it been made in a age prior to the internet and instant fan feedback. Some of its biggest stumbles along the way seems to have been from trying to cater to fans (Nikki and Paulo, Jack's tattoo episode, etc.) and from trying to dodge fan speculation by continually changing the direction of the story.
EP3:
I like the flashback structure so far. It's a neat way to give us backstory on the characters. And any episode spent watching Kate is not a bad thing :-)
Having said that, why have me watch all 42 minutes and not tell me what she actually did to get arrested?
They like to really draw out some of those mysteries - sometimes you wont even get an answer.
It was a great show that just happened to go off the rails a bit and jump some sharks.

You say that now. Give it a couple seasons.

Because it's Lost - you're gonna have to get used to shit like that.
(This post makes me sound much more disillusioned with Lost than I actually am. I don't hate the finale, or the last season. I'm just trying to be realistic when it comes to what newcomers to the show should expect, I guess.)

Some good points as always, [CE](3?)[PR](3?)(i?)[CSX]/i, but I have to offer my difference of opinion on the bolded above.
I think it was only worth watching because I/we expected so much out of it. That did lead to disappointment in the end, but in the mean time I think it led also to the largest enjoyment of it. Without high expectations, I don't think I would have enjoyed it nearly as much. Almost to the point of it not being worth watching.

So you "is" saying I shouldn't watch it then. :-(
I'm saying, take the Red pill. Get into it. Let your hopes rise to the sky even if they will ultimately be dashed on the rocks below. It's the best way to watch it. Heck, you might even like the ending. Some people did.
Or continue to watch it casually. It makes little difference to me how you watch it. I'm just glad for my part that I watched it with such high expectations.

Is this one funny?
Its short enough that I can follow it. ;-)

Ep 1.4....Mostly Locke. He was in a wheelchair but after the crash his legs work again? Hmmm, something is definitely not right with this island (duh).
Also, apparently he came face to face with the "creature" (as netflix calls it) and not only lived to tell about it, but also brought home a boar. But how?
Most importantly, how did he manage to get all his knives through security? "I checked it" shouldn't fly (pardon the pun) in 2004.
Or is it not really 2004?
Or is this just the dog's dream?

LOST
That is still one of my favorite episodes of TV. The way they kept the wheelchair out of the flashbacks until the end was brilliant and heartbreaking.

Agreed - it was really cool. Since I didn't realize what was going on until they showed the wheelchair, I kind of want to go back and watch again to see how everything was shot.
You only ever see him sitting at the break room table, his desk, or sitting in bed. You just don't realize it until the end.TV's Frink said:

You don't think so? I'm not sure myself, but as long as it's legal to own them, I would think you'd be able to check them through security.
Or is it not really 2004?
Or is this just the dog's dream?
Dang, you figured it out despite my attempts to dissuade you.
