An idea that popped into my head watching Star Wars Begins, what if the Alderaan debris cloud is more cloud like (the planet has mostly been blown to dust with only a few small rocks).

The cloud could mostly obscure the small moon that the TIE retreats to and clear when it's more obviously not a small moon (nearer).

It might make for an interesting alternate take of the scene and give it a very different look than the Asteroid scene in the next film (especially if the cloud had a distinctive colour to it).

The local sun is presumably still there so it could provide an spooky glow to what was left of the planet.
