Setting aside the smile, I hope that Ady will at least consider making the emperor's right eye less dark in the holo scene.

I think he has considered it, and decided not to change this clip any more... But you should feel free to make his eye as light as you wish when you make YOUR edit.

Are you unable to comprehend English?  Ady said he's done with the scene.  Finished.  The way it is now is how it's going to stay.  Pestering him isn't going to convince him to change his mind, particularly since his mind is made up.  The issue is settled.  Done.  Finito.  End of discussion.

I totally agree.

* Runs! *

* And shouts back while running *   But top work on the Emperor scene regardless! It's looking the bee's proverbial knees!

Me either!  I have been avoiding watching ESB for the past 6 months in anticipation.  I used to rewatch the whole trilogy every few months, but lately it's just been ANH:R.  Which isn't bad considering it's my favorite part.

Same here! The last time I watched ESB all the way through was 2009. I'm waiting for Revisited.

I am blown away that there is even discussion about the shadow over the Emperor's eye. Why shouldn't there be a shadow there? He's got his head somewhat tilted, and the right side of his hood protrudes more than the left. To my eyes, it looks completely natural.

The fact of the matter is ady didn't add any shadow that wasn't already there. What you see is shadow naturally cast by the off-center key light and hood. Doesn't it stand to reason that "fixing" the right eye would make the image unnatural?

But seriously, why are we expending pages of effort refuting one guy's opinion on a scene? :/

Well, I'm still recovering from the painful scratch I got last time I combed him*, so I'm not exactly sure. You'll have to ask adywan.

*He's very ticklish.

WOW! I just have to chime in and comment on the new emperor scene. The new Emperor looks Sooo much better than the bloated toad face Emperor from the SE's. I think the smile is totally appropriate too.

Excellent work! Cant wait for the finished product!!

Sorry to backtrack to this topic again Ady, but it's just that I think your version of the holo scene (received for a donation) was damn near perfect.

This latest version has his right eye so dark it seems like he's got a black eye, and that smile (in my opinion) doesn't belong there.

As always, it's your edit, but I just wanted to clarify that I never complained about your first edit of this epic scene.

I think your seeing something that isn't there. Both eyes are actually lighter in the final version than they ever were in the donator clip. The smile reflects the way he smiles in ROTJ and also a nod to the original. The 2004 version was just so unemotional that he looked like he was falling asleep. Also i don't see why you thought you needed to clarify that you never complained about the first clip.

Of course you can discuss opinions. Isn't that what a forum is for. If people really don't want anyone to discuss their opinions then maybe they should not post them in the first place. Everything is open for discussion in here.

Actually Grythandril is right. The schematics shows clearly the intention of the filmakers and the low budget flipped shots of the bridges

I suggested ages ago ady erase/paint the bounty hunter shots where the plate is static with a more open area like we see in the establishing shot but i think i took the answer that the bounty hunter meeting wasnt supposed to be in the bridge. The cropped version works perfectly :)

Making this part wider eliminates any continuity error

Whoever did those schematics really needs to watch the movie again. The layout of the walls/ doors is completely incorrect.

The bounty hunter scene is not supposed to be taking place on the bridge. You can see that the windows have been blocked out by adding panels and in the wide shot you can see they added a wall to the left side. You can also see the section where the bounty hunter scene takes place during the commander hologram scene just prior to Vaders conversation with the Emperor, as the windows have the same panelling. With the changed background when you see vader walk off at the end there is no continuity errors between the sets now

I'd have never noticed these things, but I'm glad you're addressing them all the same :-)

The analogy made earlier to the Sistine Chapel restoration is apropo. I did not notice most of the fixes from ANH, either. However, ANH:R is such an improvement that I an several friends watch only that version. So far, ESB:R is promising to do as good a job keeping the original spirit while greatly improving on the consistency and overall cohesiveness of the saga.

To change the subject a bit, but thanks for fixing the star destroyer conn tower that gets hit by the asteroid. The simple fact (well, I'm sure it wasn't simple to do , though) that it doesn't just disappear when hit makes the scene far more believable and pleasant to the eye.
