I'm with you on the " story, the costume and how they make the flying look..." concerns. I am stuck in the past as far as "Superman" on film goes. Some people could never accept anyone but Connery as Bond, and I feel strongly about the Superman actor. There was only one guy who could fill the cape for me, and he is dead. My hope is that they can make a film that will satisfy and inspire a new generation of cinema fans like the 1977 film did.
I went to the new Tron film in 3-D, and was not happy with the whole gimmick that 3-D is. The original Superman was riveting using classic special effects from the golden age (wires and rear projection), and great storytelling, directing, and acting to grip the audience. Superman need to be handled with movie making respect in ever aspect. Gimmicks such as 3-D, and trendy pop culture applications to a Superman film's look and story telling style is sure unwelcome news to me.
