What version is this?

Hi,

watched a version of ANH on DVD that had a menu with 50 chapters 3 sound tracks DD 2.0 in English, French, Spanish and english sub-titles.

The running length of the movie was 2.01.01 and the opening did not have  Episode IV A New Hope. Is this from 1977?

It's probably the GOUT.

Yeah, I'm going to go with the GOUT as well, the officially relased "bonus disc" version.

I suppose the follow up question is where did you get this DVD that has you baffled?

Yeah, thanks....that's not what I'm asking.

If it's the GOUT, how would you not know it's the GOUT....unless you bought it....which you are supposed to do if you want to own it.

Hmmm?

Is it anamorphic or letterbox? If it's letterbox, congratulations, you're a pirate. If it's anamorphic you've stumbled upon a fan-enhancement of the GOUT.

From your description, it doesn't sound like any particular release from the forum here... I think that someone probably just inputted the GOUT through DVD Rebuilder and just set it to convert the video to anamorphic. It's very easy to do and that would explain why it's single layer, anamorphic and has all the foreign audio tracks.

I wonder if it's a stripped down version of this....

Star Wars Trilogy: Rebellion Collection by mattmanalpha

Let me start by saying full credit for the extras and sources are included on each disc in a "DVD Credits" portion of the menu. After all, I want to be sure I give full acknowledgement to anyone whose work I "borrowed" from.

The main video sources for the films are the NTSC GOUT DVDs. They were upconverted to 16x9 using my own scripts, which were inspired by scripts I spotted on OriginalTrilogy.com by G-Force and Moth3r.

The video source for the '81 opening is the '93 Definitive LaserDisc.

Audio sources include:
- The '93 Definitive LaserDiscs
- The '95 Faces LaserDiscs
- The '85 CAV Full Screen LaserDiscs of Star Wars and Empire
- The '86 CLV Full Screen LaserDisc of Jedi
- The Belbucus Restored Mono Mix for Star Wars

Supplements are sourced from:
- The Rowman Star Wars releases (Original Home Video Spots)
- The Dr. Gonzo DVD set (Documentaries)
- THX Ultimate Demo Disc (THX WOW! demo)
- The 2004 "Trilogy" Bonus DVD (Trailers)

Wow! Is there a thread about the Rebellion Collection? How did a set like this go unnoticed? It looks pretty cool. Has anyone checked it out yet? How does it compare to DJ's V3 or the LFL Pwnage?

EDIT: HOLY! Mattmanalpha also made an AVCHD of the original Empire. How are his releases going unnoticed??? Has anyone checked this out???

EDIT: EDIT: Would anyone mind if I made a thread about these releases? They look pretty awesome.

Thanks Jetrell Fo! Make sure to check out the AVCHD too. It looks awesome!

EDIT: Btw, I made a separate thread about it in Preservations. Hopefully this release will get the attention it deserves.

I grabbed it, and watched the 720p version. It looks pretty good, although I think there is some weird sharpening going on, which I am not a fan of. The rest of his collection seems to be sourced from an older GFORCE script, as it looks somewhat similar to dark_jedi's GOUT V2, but certainly not as good as GOUT V3.

I think what he has done is commendable.
