Official Trailer shows evidence of the same flaws as the 2004 edition... color me (pun intended) unimpressed.

Place your bets now on how many times the discs will be re-released!

We must remember the 1997 footage on the 1st 2004 DVD's trailer.

But yes, I find it unlikely that they will fix any colour issue. I shall wait for more info about it before I buy anything.

Actually, I don't remember this. Got a link handy?

(All I recall are a few news programs covering the new release and using old footage (ie: the '97 jabba) probably since they didn't obtain any of the new footage in time... but not official ads.)

Sure, perhaps they're just being lazy in the ads, but until I learn otherwise (from reputable sources, at least), I'm assuming these are the same blue tinted editions (at least where the "Original Trilogy" is concerned) that we got in 2004, albeit in "HD" resolution. I've seen the now infamous "is it new or is it old" ROTJ saber scene a couple of times now, so I don't feel any desire to pay money to watch it one more time in higher quality.

Agreed, I'm with you. "As advertised." When the 2006 editions were coming out, people hoped against hope that the included '04's would have some fixes. Didn't happen (as if there was any reason to hope that such a thing would happen).

I'm not buying it, even if I did have have a blu-ray player and HD TV right now to play it on, I wouldn't buy it. Not because "Lucas sucks" but because I don't want to support another shoddy edition. Certain forums are full of people of course who will say I'm lying and that I'll buy them anyway (because fanboys have no self control and secretly love being scammed), but those people can go kiss a wookiee. ;)

PS: Can anybody tell I'm annoyed by this? Here's how he can un-annoy me... release a properly restored high def edition of the original trilogy and by that I mean an up-to-standard BD featuring the three films as close to their '77-'85 theatrical presentations as possible on the format. Regular release, not some "limited time only" overpriced exclusive deal-o where you have to buy all 6 episodes in a go (I realize he's doing this as all OR each trilogy for no discount, but still). Want to make me really happy? Throw in some vintage extras and properly restored deleted scenes from the 70's and 80's. That's all any of us really want that we're not getting...

PPS: And I don't buy the "well buy this now and that will encourage him to re-release it again," potential argument, because we know all he'll do is change the packaging in future re-releases, not the content. He got a good four years out of the 2004 editions on the format. The only reason he's putting these out now is to get people thinking about Star Wars again to hype the 3D releases. When was Lucas going to start making those "small films that nobody cares about but me" again?
