Could you scale the picture postings down a tad please fellas (if they go over the thread tram rails it shunts the whole thread out of wack).

Avatar those samples are very bleached out, too yellow shifted and over saturated.

It's certainly reduced the baseball bat lightsaber but to the detriment of everything else in the picture.

don't judge me  <: (

i mostly did it to get rid of the magneta color that was in the scene and in the whole movie and increased the brightness to make the scene look a bit more dune seanish (if that's a word)

I like post 289 or something, removing Endor and Death Star 2 and setting the ground and space battle on Had Abbaddon or whatever the Imperial centre is called.

But make it a total original fan movie filmed entirely from scratch!

new actors that have aged the 25 years or so since empire strikes back was released. Have part of the story about recovering the lost Han Solo - who in the years since Empire strikes back has become bit a of a martyr to the rebels and Leia, Luke and Chewie are still searching for him. Lando believes he's dead or they will never find him, has since parted ways from the alliance and is operating undetected on the Imperial Home world as a smuggler or whatever it is lando does now.

The alliance has gained in size and is now a more formidable opponent. The empire is crumbling! more and more planets are joining the alliance, battles are fought all over the galaxy - the rebels have discovered a flaw in the security on Imperial Centre which will allow them to make a last ditched battle to destroy Vader and the Empire all at once.

teaser...

...And so the final chapter in the star wars saga begins... 30 years after the Empire Struck back - Return to a Galaxy Far, Far Away...

Luke Skywalker's darkest hour confronts him, the choice he makes will either lead to the complete destruction of the Empire or... the end of the Rebel Alliance.

An enigmatic Bounty Hunter contacts Leia with a message about where she can finally locate Han Solo - lost 30 years ago on Bespin - the revelation leads to a cat and mouse chase around the galaxy and a frantic search to finally recover their friend and a discovery of a secret that could lead to the destruction of the Empire once and for all, but...at what cost to Luke Skywalker's soul?......

Coming to a cinema near you... This summer return to a Galaxy far, far away.... this time the galaxy will never be the same again...

dun dun dah!

Now thats the kind of return of the Jedi I wanna see!

i like the idea of jedi being set years later.

i reckon the success of this film though rests in the radical changes made to the PT aswell. whoever comes up with the best idea will need to lay the foundations and plot strings back then.

if jabba was a more important player in the PT for instance, the han solo mission could have a two fold purpose (reanimating lots of droids for example).

perhaps the endor bunker could be the droid control hub?

Just watched The family guy ROTJ parody and I was a bit surprised at how bad ass Seth McFarlane felt he needed to make the ewoks. I found it rather interesting that a guy who's intent is to parody the film, couldn't disguise just how much he hates the ewoks......to the point that he barely made any jokes about them at all, and instead chose to just alter their character in the film instead. He even goes as far as making their weapons more effective against the stormtroopers. It was nice to see actual arrow penetration, and spear thrusts that connect. Hell, some of the ewoks even died in battle. Its odd to say it, but its almost ewoks the way I wish they had been done (if we have no choice to take ewoks over wookiees that is). The best change has got to be the scene right at the end where the ewoks are celebrating their victory while a couple of them go around the field of battle, systematically mercy killing the wounded imperials "Braveheart style". Adywan, if you haven't watched it yet, I'd definitely recommend it....sometime before you start working on ROTJ ;)

Yes, Adywan said he was going to film new scenes with the Rebel Commandos. They get forgotten in the forest battle and is the easiest way to "decute" the Endor battle scenes without CGI use.

The nice thing is that it will probably Ming and his crew. Who I believe are in California. Thus, they can actually go back to "Endor" the Redwood forest of Nortern California and film in the same spots.

A guy up in Seattle owns parts of the original Endor Bunker that was used. They are made of plywood and would be easy to replicate... or have him transport down to use again.

Thus, Ady and the crew, (I would volunteer to go down and help if they let me) could make some very convincing and realistic battle scenes with stormies/Imps and Rebel Commandos duking it out.

Matticon

I've been thinking about this alot (for some reason) and I think it would be worth trying.  Some Ewok ferociousness would be a welcome addition.  Something that shows you don't upset an ewok or they might pull your knee-caps out of their socket.

And I'd be interested in seeing a fan edit attempt to incorporate new live action footage into the film.  That would be a huge milestone in fan edits.  The rebel troops on the moon of Endor seems like a pretty bold spot to do it.

The issue that I have with the above ideas is that I they are executed in the wrong place.  Come with me now to the lush, green forests of Endor...

71 EXT. BIKERS LUNCH (SCOUT CAMPSITE – FOREST)

Han, Chewie, and the droids, along with the rest of the squad, wait anxiously in the clearing. Artoo’s radar screen sticks out of his domed head and revolves, scanning the forest. He beeps.

THREEPIO
Oh, General Solo, somebody’s coming. Oh!

Han, Chewie, and the rest of the squad raise their weapons. Luke steps out of the foliage to find the weapons trained on him. He’s too tired to care. He plops himself down on a boulder and looks around.

HAN
Luke! Where’s Leia?

LUKE (concerned)
What? She didn’t come back?

HAN
I thought she was with you.

LUKE
We got separated.

Luke and Han exchange a silent, grim look. Luke gets up wearily.

LUKE
Hey, we better go look for her.

Han nods, and signals to a Rebel officer.

HAN
Take the squad ahead. We’ll meet at the shield generator at 0300.

LUKE
Come on, Artoo. We’ll need your scanners.

Luke, Chewie, Han, and the droids move off in one direction as the squad proceeds in another. THREEPIO Don’t worry, Master Luke. We know what to do. They move off into the woods.

THREEPIO (to Artoo)
And you said it was pretty here. Ugh!

This scene is immediately followed, of course, by Leia being discovered by Wicket.  This scene has been talked about a bit as needing editing so it can keep the suspense and the reveal of the ewoks.

So what if this scene was dropped and instead we go with the rebel squal on ahead where they discover the remains of some slaughtered Imperial troops.  A bloody massacre. Maybe they could also see another group of netted stormtroopers hanging on a distant tree with a bunch of spears and arrows in them.

They try to radio Han and Luke with a warning, but they are too far out of range. Cut back to Han, Chewie and Luke waiting for word from Leia and the rest of the squad.

This gives the viewer a "What the fudge happened to those stormtroopers?" and we may get a bit more nervous for the heroes when they are staring down all those ewok spears after they cut themselves loose from their own net.

Exactly.......something has GOT to be done to make those damn ewoks more believeable as a fighting force. Seems to me I almost remember them being more badass in the ewok movies than in ROJT....although i dont know if anything could be taken from there and seamlessly dropped in ROTJ

Now if someone can find some little people, and make some Ewok costumes, and do some decent gore effects... well then maybe you got something...

It doesn't even NEED to be all bloody....even if they were just shown to be more effective in a fight it would be a definite improvement over "lets hit the armoured guys with sticks and rocks and hope for the best"

I'd do it without adding the ewoks.  Leave it to the imagination.

And if you wanted a bit more blood, add it to the helmets the ewoks play percussion on during the celebration.

I dont think the celebration is gonna exist in any way we'd really recognize it.

What about if TheManBehindTheMask was to create a grindhouse version of Jedi - that would be cool, like he added the blood and decapitations in War of the Stars he could make the ewoks drip blood from theirs mouths, dub their voices with something more scary monsterish.

Stuff like that? make their weapons better and arrows that do go straight thru stormtroopers with lots of blood.

I think that could be pretty funny ) and relieve a bit of the cutesyness of Jedi.

So TMBTM - come and give us a complete War of the stars Grindhouse trilogy! :)

I don't mean Ady's project specifically, it's just a general idea.

Anyway, Ady said it wasn't going to be that drastic of an edit anyway.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

from what i understood, ESB isnt supposed to be that drastic......ROTJ is gonna be somewhat different than what we're used to

Seeing as the Imperial Capital route is only a pipe-dream, I'd simply replace the Ewoks with Wookiees.

If a lot of new footage is going to be shot, I don't see why you wouldn't go the whole mile. They did, after all, plan a Wookiee ending before changing it to Ewoks.

It's easy to make the Endor environment a convincing Kashyyk and Wookiees make a more credible army.

We've known Chewbacca for the whole series, so it makes a more dynamic conclusion to finally see his race in action. We'd also get to see more clearly why "it's not wise to upset a Wookiee".

Replacing the Ewoks with Wookiees may be an impossible pipe dream but adding Wookiees other than than Chewbacca to the Rebel taskforce may be a doable :

Just one thing I'd like to mention: One of the things that has always annoyed me about the Speeder Bike Chase is how Luke and Leia's "ponchos" barely move. Is there some way to fix that? I doubt it, but I would really like to see it happen.

Kinda looks like a ... Birthday Party.

The set does lend itself to that sort of comparison but at least nobody has invited the medical droids to this party.

Taking a few of the furry chaps from ROTS or filming a good pair of fan costumes and adding them into the Endor battle should be possible.

A lot more possible than redoing a whole act of the film from scratch.

Here is something interesting:

Yoda hero pendant

You know, I never noticed Yoda wearing this at all.... surprised nothing was made of it in the Prequels...
