MORE CHANGES!!! (for the 2004 OT DVD release) — Page 7

The list looks normal. Obviously they won't list everyone in it. But everyone listed there is an OT actor. Even McDiarmid if that's what you're worried about. He did play the emperor in ROTJ.

That was what I saw as well, maybe you thought David Browse is someone new, the guy who is walking around in Vader's suit.

Wow David Prowse right after Alec Guiness?

Nobody said the order of the names was normal. Just that they were all actors in the OT.

But think about it. Few had as much screentime as Prowse regardless of if it was his voice or not.

I'm curious as well. I think it has to do with McDiarmid in all honesty. Most people only think of him from the PT as Palpatine. They don't realize that he is one of few repeat actors from the OT to the PT.

Stupid I'am.

Sorry, I'm back so late. And even more sorry for telling bullsh..

I'm so nervous that GL might do changes even to the SE now that I was buffled wwhen I read Ian mcDiarmids name. To stay to the truth. I was absolutely sure that the emperor in ROTJ was played by someone else and that Ians first appearance in SW was in TPM.

I apologize. and I apologize to Mr Lukas, too. (If only for this one thing)

To make more jokes about me possible:

I'm not a too big fan of the prequels. But I wondered how similar Senator Palpatine in TPM looked to the emperor in ROTJ. Thought that Ian was a very good casting choice. Never did the idea appear to me they could be the same actors.

I didn't know that either. But it makes perfect sense to me; as I have said here before, the Emperor's character was the only part of TPM that I thought worked really well. At least GL made one sound decision there.

They got lucky, when they casted him fro ROTJ he was about 35 years old although Palpatine was supposed to be kinda old, and now he's old enough to play a PT Palpatine.

Just goes to show that Lucas knew exactly what he was doing when he cast the Emperor all those years ago!!

See, he is a master at work!!

Sorry, but I seriously doubt he was planning to film a PT to be released between 1999-2005, and cast him based on that.

What Ric is saying is that, originally, George wanted to have all the SW films done in 3-year increments. That means that the final film, be it 3 or 9 (depending on which trilogy he would have wrapped up with), would have been in 2001. He (and I) truly doubt that when he was casting an actor to play Emperor Palpatine, he was thinking ahead about how perfectly this person will age in 20 years to play a younger Palpatine when I finally come back from self-imposed SW exile to film another trilogy. However, if he, as you say, foresaw this happening, then that man better start playing the lotto or open his own Psychic Hotline.

Yeah I know that Bossk man, but what about 3PO, surely another actor couldn't have reproduced 3PO better than Tony Daniels.
Or Vader, theres only one voice for him.

He must of had in mind to use these actors for the next set of films!!

I have a question: I have read that when the DVDs are coming out in September they are also going to publish the novelizations again. Do you think they are going to change those too? Like, will they write that Greedo shot first or that Jabba and Han met in Mos Eisley?

The Jabba meeting Han footage is original from the first cut of SW. They changed Jabba from an overweight Scotsman in animal pelts to the Jabba that we all know and love and added Boba Fett to the scene. Other than those two changes (and Han noticeably stepping on a tail that wouldn't have otherwise been there), the scene is original and part of the old screenplay. Whether it's reflected in the novelizations is something else altogether. Actually, I've got an original SW novelization by GL. I can check it.

In the book, you mean? Cool. I've had the book for years (found it at a garage sale) but I never bothered to read it.

Just don't read the Jedi novel........Owen being Ben's brother is just a load of tosh!!!

Now that would be a major plot hole..............

But it's not in the film, so it's not!!
