He doesn't think he's going to do RotJ in 1080p. The Revisited Saga will all be 720p in the end.

Ghostbusters, you make a good point. With the PT only being 720p so i can alter the portion of the frame that is seen, doing ROTJ:R in 720p would probably be a better option so that the whole saga is consistent. Plus this would give me a better option of using footage from the theatrical versions 9 unless a miracle happens and we get a theatrical version blu-ray or footage)so i can replace that god damn hayden monstrosity at the end. I'm going to be changing the title of the thread because, after a lot of thought, i think 2016 is being a bit optimistic.

Not to get too off-topic, Ady, but since you mentioned it...

Would the Gkar capture of the '97 SE be a viable source for the Seb Shaw force ghost scene at the end of ROTJ?

Also, I agree that 2016 might be a bit too optimistic. By just saying "after ROTJ:R is done," you might be able to avoid a lot of those demanding "when's the damn edit gonna be done" posts...

I only just noticed the thread title change. Ady, you are a God!

I disagree with what someone else said about the CG Tie reveal. I loved it. I hope that Will still has them for you to use. Hopefully in a resolution that suits the HD ANH:R.

But I guess Will and other contributors have at least 5 years to work on these things for you.

Here's hoping for a Blu Ray release of the theatrical versions in the next 5 years to make your job easier when the time comes.

Oh if only there was a timemachine so we didn't have to wait 3 decades for the complete saga :)

I am sorry for derailing the thread, but do people actually care about the prequels once empire and jedi are done to me the revisited trilogy of the real star wars trilogy is all i need.

I don't think they will ever be as good as the OT, and I am well sure Ady doesn't either. It is just interesting to see what can be done to them. Bob Garcia is polishing one of those turds with great results as we speak.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I'm relieved you're leaning towards the 720p option now adywan, for the reasons you've outlined.  Consistency is good, and 720p is plenty of high quality, at the end of the day.

I'd be surprised if adywan intended slaving over these for another 30 years yet...  As much as I'm keen to see what he eventually does to the prequels, I'm sure glad he started with the original trilogy!

720p is fine with me.

Although, I'm down for whatever. XD

Instead of the god awful Hayden standing next to Yoda and Obi-Wan why not have Vader in his suit standing there.

He was last on the good side in the suit and it was what he was wearing when he died like Obi and Yoda.

Still have him look over to Yoda and Obi and them look back at him. But we all know he is good now.

Might not be as good as Sebastion Shaw in Jedi robes (that he never wore) but its better than Hayden.

Battle droids the robotic incarnations of Jar Jar Binks.

Ady, great to hear that you're revisiting Revisited! If I may, this always stuck out to me in ANH:R, I hope this will be fixed in the 720p version. R2's colored eye turns blue, but the reflection is still red:

Yoda and Sebastian Shaw were in ANH?!

Oh yeah I'm way off topic. OOps. I just saw in mentioned then chimed in without thinking. My bad.

I am a little disappointed that ROTJ will not be in 1080p now. It's not too late to change your word Adywan. You can still say ANH Revisited will be in 1080p as well as ROTJ will too and then you can just upscale ESB:R to look close to 1080p and do the prequels in 720p, who cares about those.

Well, Ady tried to do Empire in 1080p, and I remember several 1080p clips that, quite frankly, looked ridiculous because the source for stuff Ady was adding to the shot was far too low a resolution to look good at 1080p, but it was all he could use.  That's why he decided to do the Revisited saga at 720p instead.

I think.  My memory could be failing me on this one.

720p will look just fine on a 40" to 50" television. ANHR in 560p (is that right?) looks pretty good on my 42" LG LCD 1080p television.

Unless you sit really close to the screen (which is dumb) 720p will look amazing. Any way, Ady's source materials as Chainsaw stated didn't really need to be in 1080p in the first place. It would be as silly as converting an MP3 to FLAC.

Anything regarding ROTJ:R is just wishlists and ideas at this point.  Ady probably doesn't even have a definitive list of what needs to be fixed or how.  Besides, it's still possible for him to do ROTJ:R in 1080.  By the time he gets to it, he may be on yet another computer upgrade to something with even more power.

First things first.  Wait until ESB:R is finished and see where Ady is technologically at that point.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

The best anyone seems to ever be able to do with the prequels is make them "watchable". At least Adywan has the technical ability to pull off some drastic ideas...

I don't think anyone would be too upset if he ultimately just changed his mind about doing the prequels though, I imagine that doing GOOD movies is enough work as it is.

After watching RLM reviews.... I don't know if the prequels could ever be saved.

I would be happy if Adywan ended after ARSE.

I've been tossing around the idea of a reconstructing of the Phantom Edit/Attack of the Phantom in HD. But that is for another thread :)

I'm in the camp that very, very much looks forward to seeing what Ady can/will do with the prequels. Ever since he said he was going to 'tear them apart,' I've been anticipating it. He certainly has plenty of time to make a strong outline of what he wants to do.

Not to keep this off-topic, but in regards to the (shudder) Prequels, the biggest problem is the script and the acting.  Everything else you can edit around: Jar-Jar edited down and/or having a different voice and even different lines.. same with all of the non-human characters.  But the human characters are just as wooden, if not more so, since they do not have the excuse of being fabricated and operated by 10 or more people.

Short of even dubbing in most if not all of the human characters with voice actors, you still have to deal with the same insipid dialogue.

Maybe he can pull it off... you have some really talented anime voice actors/actresses that do some fantastic voice-over work.  Maybe just having some better voices to say the same dialogue could improve things alone.  Regardless, if Ady needs an aspirin account, I'll have some money ready to go.

What frustrates me about all this is how long it is taking. I wish there was a way to speed up time and make Adywan's family stop having problems, and for Adywan not to need food or sleep so he can work on this 24/7. Oh and not have any computer problems. And I wish he had a computer that could operate at a million frames per second!
