The scenes when Threepio and Artoo are wandering in the deserts of Tatooine after the pod has landed are among my favorites. I like the bones of the dragon and the music playing and find those scenes relaxing for some reason.

Anyway, my favorite scene is Vader's funeral. It mirrors the original Binary Sunset quite well, and it really gives closure to the movies. If it were up to me, that would be the final moment of the movie - placing it after the celebration.

To this day, that's still one of the - if not the - very first passages I think of when I think about my emotional connection to the film. It was very moving to me as a kid. That feeling of being nowhere. Same for when I hear the music to the scene. One of Williams' finest moments ever.
The scenes with Shaw in return of the jedi vader's unmasking, and ghost scene as well as the funeral pyre.
The ghost scene in both the 1983 and 1997 versions. The 2004 was an absolute outrage they put Hayden in there. I wanted to smash the DVD into little bits.

ANH: When obiwan makes his intro and pulls down his hood to say "hello there" to R2. Coupled with the harp chord by john williams, its one of my favs. Another is the cantina intro. and lastly, the x-wing, y-wing attack on the DS!
ESB: I love the transport evac of hoth, where the ion cannon fires, temporarily disabling a star destroyer, then its announced in the action packed hangar, "the first transport is away"...."hooray!" I also love dagobah and yoda's explanation of the force, and the interaction between luke and yoda. and lastly, the vader/luke duel, round 1.
ROTJ: I love the space battle and the throne room duel.

ESB was the reason I love Star Wars, so I have to go with the Asteroid Chase.
You have a wonderful score, wonderful action, great dialogue, wonderful effects, and more tension than any scene in the whole saga. It is wonderful.

That's my favourite chase/action scene of the whole saga.

Exactly! The feeling that the droids really were in the middle of nowhere was very strong. I always felt that I was going on an adventure too when I saw this as a child. It helped keep the film engaging until Luke made an appearance.
I've always loved the trash compactor scene. The music really gets going and the editing is perfect. It always gives me the chills.
I also always liked the scene in ESB when Luke is walking down the hallway, Vader jumps out and scares him, then proceeds to throw metal objects at him using the force.
There are so many, it's really hard to pick just one. The Binary Sunset, the Asteroid Chase, Vader totally owning Luke as he drives Luke out onto the catwalk after knocking him out the window in the ESB duel. These movies are FILLED with iconic scenes/sequences that resonate very strongly with my sense for adventure, longing to explore, and desire to "take the difficult path" to achieve self-improvement. But ultimately, I had to go the scene depicted above. The music is just incredible. The sense of wonder as Yoda effectively demonstrates just how much the Force can do.... I love it! And I can totally relate to Luke training under an expert who pushes you so hard that you reach your ends and feel that it just cannot be done, only to watch the master do the very thing so effortlessly when you've failed in order to prove that it can. (I think anyone who's ever seriously trained in a traditional martial art has at least one story like that.)
Everything in ANH and ESB was memorable, including a good deal of ROTJ.
That is one of the problems with the prequels, there wasn't any moments that sucked me in.
ANH and ESB were such great pieces of art, and each scene can be enjoyed on their own. Even people who haven't seen them before know some of the imagery, because it stays with you. You have to have seen the prequels a few times to remember much about them.
Star Wars used to be a thing that everybody knew about and it was instilled in our culture. Star Wars wasn't a movie, it was an experience.
Even ROTJ had those moments of awe that you could take with you and tell your friends about it.

Surprisingly, all the ones with Boba Fett... especially the one where the 'Falcon detaches from the back of the Avenger's bridge and drifts away with the rest of the garbage... and then there's Slave I, right on the trail. That's when you know he's the best.

Each of the original films has what could be called an 'it' moment, where the music reaches awe-inspiring brilliance and completely carries the scene in a very memorable way. Star Wars has Luke watching the sunset, Empire has Yoda lifting the X-wing from the swamp, and Jedi has Luke defeating Vader. Though all three movies are filled with excellent and wondrous scenes, these especially stand out for sheer magnificence.
(Raiders of the Lost Ark arguably has a similar kind of moment when Indy uses the staff to find the location of the Well of Souls.)

I read it right the first time. Just thought I would prod on with my disgust in the prequels. I hate to be a broken record, but when something so wrong happens, you try to figure out just why and how it went wrong.

I hate to go off topic but....
The biggest problem I had with Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was the cinematography, with all the "Solar Glares" and the "Dirty Camera" (I think this only happened once). This isn't a documentary and wasn't in any other films. I'm fine with the "Nuking of the Fridge" (Always seemed very Indiana Jones-ish if he was in the 50's to me) and the CGI Ants (Monkeys I didn't care for...), but I really don't like those new cliches in movies popping up in one of my favorite film series. Despite what I said, I still enjoyed the film, even with those problems. I can't wait for someone to correct me on how wrong I am for liking the film and how it was "raping" Indiana!
