Does anybody have this thing or know where to get it? It was aired in my country (finland) in 1995 and 1998, I even had a tape of it but it was destroyed in 2002.

It wasn't released in theaters or VHS... so far everything points out that these two airings were the only ones including the uncut version. Maybe an uncensored version slipped through for translating it Finnish, and that copy ended up at the the tv station. They did final cuts right before release to change it from original intended PG to G.

I would love to see the uncut version of this.  One of my childhood favorites.

trust me you really would love to see it. The flow with the cut version is just not right. The cut version gets a 7/10 from me while original would get a full 10/10 (well maybe 9.5/10 for the little graininess in animation compared to his newest works) I was pretty confused by the movie rating on imdb but after seeing the mutilated edition I understand it.

So... does anyone have a recording of this?  It'd be incredibly depressing if it was aired twice, but no one bothered to record it...

Guys, supposedly the uncut version airs every summer at Super RTL. They list running time as 75min (which would mean ~79min in non-PAL - additional 10 minutes of footage). Anyone here see the channel so they could record it this summer?

Nobody has this channel on their tv?

I have the 1995 recording of The Land Before Time from MTV3 on VHS. Sadly, it's not uncut. Quite probably the rumor is fake. Too bad.

I find this odd, because I am 110% sure I had it. Tape was from 1998 airing. I can even remember the dialog 1:1 from the outcut scenes.

This explains so much. I always thought Land Before Time was awfully tame for a Don Bluth movie. I'd love to see the REAL version...

So watch out, I have a copy of a VHS version of the movie but i bought this when the first copies of this film were already available. So I think this must be the cut version. BUT I have also a copy of the (I think) theatrical version. This tape was a gift to me in that time the movie was still aired in cinemas! I write about the versions in German..

So if you tell me explicit which scenes are concerned, cause I didnt figure it out from the wikipedia content I will watch this tape again and look if its the uncut one..

Greetings! :-)

I think this claim that the uncut version was shown on TV in Germany or Finland or whatever is just a myth. From what I can understand, the cuts were made to the negative, and the deleted scenes were either thrown away/destroyed, or are languishing in some vault at Universal.

But if your copy really is the uncut version, it will be at least 75 minutes (accounting for PAL speedup - I've read that 11 minutes were cut from the film).

Look at this site, it has some pictures of deleted scenes that were used in promotional materials: http://gangoffive.net/ar/t1443.htm

I know that originally, Littlefoot discovered the Great Valley himself. I think there's also a part in the Sharptooth fight where they get trapped under his foot or something?

I'm skeptical, but take a look at your copy, maybe it *is* longer...

Unfortunately both German versions, the theatrical copy and the home video, are the cut versions and identical..I compared several of the most debated scenes, but they are missed :-(

Finally, perhaps may be the Finnish TV version the right one?!

I don't believe that the uncut version was ever shown in Finland. The scenes were cut from the negative before the film was released in theaters; why would an uncut version get sent to Finland, a country where a lot of movies were subjected to additional censorship until the last couple of decades? If Universal ever distributed the uncut version, it would have shown up in a less obscure country than Finland.

From the comments I read on some YouTube video once (which was taken down), I think the "uncut in Finland" rumor started because it was actually the standard version, without additional censorship by the Finnish censors, which aired on TV in Finland.

I don't think the deleted scenes have ever been seen by the public (except for test audiences back in 1988) - similar to The Black Cauldron deleted scenes, I think they're either destroyed, lost, or misplaced.

I've rented the current DVD from our library. Parts of it look pretty bad - nearly VHS quality at times. Anyone know if some of the laserdisc releases are least a constant quality throughout? Might try to pick up a used copy.

Thanks!

Hello, i was really shocked when i heard land before time was cut version then i searched if there would be a parts in internet then i found it was released atleast in finnish television and how lucky i really could be? land before time is one of my favorite movies and i live in finland and i have 3 copy of land before time first 1995 second 1998 third 2003, and actually the 1995 is uncutted with findub, not even bad quality its vhs quality watchable i would love to publish it in internet but  i need to get vhsrip to the computer and edit a heck if i wanna put the deleted scenes to the orginal film, it would be a funny cos if i put it in english version there would be parts with finnish language or i could just make subtitles to english from the parts and add to the film. now i dont have the equipments to do so, but in near future i might buy equipments to do so.

and trust me when u will see the uncut version its not a big deal  there's only few part where sharp tooth attacks and i really dont get why did they remove that scene from the movie where they meet spiky it was about 2min longer what on the cutted version and there was part's where littlefoot's mother speaks to him with ''ghostly voice'' but there was also a part where was some kinda lizard chasing them and it was not in the cutted version.. well anyway i try do the best what i can.

Translated into finnish ignore if ur not from finland.

Is there any hope of you really doing a vhsrip of the movie? I would love to see it, really.

An answer would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I think I actually have that TV channel. Though would they still air it in 2013? Someone please PM me or something if they will with details of when they will broadcast it again and I'll see if I can record it for you folks.

You never may know...

Could someone post screen caps of the deleted scenes and say where exactly in the movie are they located? I've got a Yugoslav bootleg recording and an incomplete TV recording which I could check to see if that one too was uncut or not.
