No, I think you have me mixed up with someone else. The version I have is not anamorphic, nor am I asking $60 for it. BTW there is no email address listed above. Also, when you buy from me, you are not just paying for the discs; you are paying for the time involved with the project plus the risk involved in bringing you the set safely. The proceeds are also going to help fund a new dual layer ultimate transfer later this year, complete with all the bells & whistles plus as many bonus features as I can find. If this still offends you, I'm sorry; plenty of others want these movies in their true format on DVD, and are not concerned with minutiae or petty moralizing. I don't mean to sound condescending, it's just the facts.

Petty moralizing? So ripping people off isn't a big deal?
Listen...if these weren't DVD-r's (which they are), then it would be a different story. I paid a good amount for the dual layered bootlegs because 1) you can't get sometihng dual layered at the moment that's unofficial and 2) they weren't dvd-r's. I don't know about you but DVD-r's cost AT MOST $5 each. I usually get my TDK's for a lot less. If you want to rip fans off, go right ahead. But don't you think you should be charging people more when you DO end up getting the dual layered versions? I know I wouldn't be opposed to spending more money if you did something like that. But right now DVD-R's are very cheap and very easy to reproduce. THOSE are facts. And if you're selling them for the price of the DVD-r's, then fine. But if you're going to put a price on the "time involved" then it makes me question whether or not your'e a real fan. A real fan would be doing this for himself and to make the best product he can and then to share it with other people but NOT to make a profit off of it. And the "risk involved in bringing you this set safely??? I didn't realize you were Indiana Jones and hand delivering these through ice, sleet, snow and rain...lol I'm not exactly sure how the US postal system is not safe.

Bottom line, don't rip people off. It disgusts me. And the high and mighty attitude is just ridiculous. Regardless of what you've done, these aren't your movies. It isn't your place to illegally reproduce them. And it isn't your place to rip people off.

What dual layer versions are you talking about? The only dual layer bootlegs I know of are the 5 star SE versions with the fake DTS track.

hmm, 40 bucks for a set of 4 dvd-r's and 1 cd-r w/art. a 50 pack of the dvd-r's costs 36 bucks. the cd-r is probably 20 cents. Shipping is about 5 bucks. So, on this, TR-47 is making a profit of 30 bucks. He did spend time ripping the collection and whatnot, however, he still is making a profit illegally since he doesn't own the copyright. I'd jump at this if it were 20 shipped and the labels and whatnot were printed. That's fair. Otherwise, anyone wanna burn me a copy of TR-47's dvd trilogy? I'll pay expenses

If you think the price is too high, then dont buy it. Its pretty simple. I know the dilemma faced by trading and selling ripped DVDs, I am an active seller and trader of Mystery Science Theater episodes. Believe me, the incentive of a little bit of compensation for my time, effort, and materials is all that makes it worthwile. If I were selling DVD-Rs at "cost plus a little", I wouldnt be doing it. If I sold them for $2 each, I would be be burning around the clock to meet the demand, basically LOOSING money. Its not worth my time. Ive had alot of people gripe a little over my prices, (about $7-$8 per disc, depending on qty) but I always tell them politly, "im doing you a favor. Ive made the choice to make these available to you, and my time isnt free. If you dont feel thats fair, order somewhere else, or invest a few thousand of your own dollars to make them yourself."

I'm actually making my own from my LD's. I was pretty happy with my first attempt, but I know I can do better. I'm actually thankful for TR47 being around because they have helped fans get these films where I could not. I'm sorry to those who PM'ed me asking for copies of mine. Time hasn't been on my side. But at least, TR47 was able to come through.

To be honest, I never thought of selling mine. I just was doing it so that I could have the versions I want on DVD. I'll probably buy a dual layered burner after they come out and are proven to work well. I want a dual layered burner that does both + and -. I'm partial to - because I know my player plays though.

As far as prices go. I don't know what I would sell my copies for once I finished and was satisfied with them. Maybe $30-$40. It really would depend. Again I apologize to those asking for a copy from me. It is going to be a while before I finish mine. Mine has menus, but they are just static instead of being fancy with motion and music and such.

I know the risk TR47 is talking about. That is pretty much all I will say on that. I think we should all be civil here. If one doesn't like his prices, they do not have to buy. They can either buy bootlegs from Ebay, buy the Official release, or spend the money to buy an LD Player, the LD's, PC equipment powerful enough to capture and encode video, software, etc and make their own. Not to mention the research involved in doing this properly. I would actually encourage everyone who wants the Original Versions, but doesn't want to buy bootlegs to make their own.

There is also one last option I didn't mention. Wait until 9/21/04 to see if the Original Versions are really not going to be included. I'm not holding my breath, but you never know with Lucas' ever fickle mind. Anything could happen. This last option is one factor that has slowed me a little. I have the LD's, so I won't be too upset if he doesn't include the Original Versions, as I can then begin work on my own. I probably won't wait that long, but I'm going to take my time when I do this.

actually, a while back, on another forum, we did something like this. As a matter of fact, the guy shipped the cds for free, he didn't even charge for materials. ok, this is what happened.

Someone looked at the EULA of Freespace 2 and saw a clause that said in effect, "Share with your friends, we don't care"

well, we figured we were all friends even though we had never met in person. So one guy made copies of the game and shipped them out to everyone. The way it worked was, one person would make an original. Then the guy who received it would make a copy for himself and send the original along to the next guy on the list. If you goto sharingthegroove.com they do something like that with their trees/vines. Hell, I'd start one, but I don't have a copy of the stuff

http://www.sharingthegroove.org/msgboard/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=16

look at this. this is how to share stuff like this.

I'm on an email list for a band and sharing CDs and DVDs is commonplace. What usually happens is someone announces they will mail the recording to the first 3 people who respond. The only catch being that the 3 recipients must then also provide the same service for others. It's a nice trickle-down pyramid scheme, if you will. (And yes, this is seen on sharingthegroove a lot.)

This week someone announced they had a DVD of a solo performance from one of the band members. I was one of the 3 to respond first, so I now await this material that I otherwise probably would have never had a chance to see. This is a great system. The costs to you are 3 (or 2, or whatever you choose) CDs/DVDs, and mailing. Probably around $10-$12 total. Doesn't that seem like a reasonable way to do it? There is a bit of an honor system but unless you are a complete cheapskate it should work fine.

As for torrents... I'm not an expert, but I believe that unless the tracker is running, having the torrent file is useless. I have torrents to SW and ESB, both partly downloaded, but since the torrent source is not around, they have nothing to seek. Maybe someone can correct me on the details.

hello all, 1st post!

TR47, I have both pm'ed you and emailed you asking for info on your set as I am very interested in it. Have yet to get a response though. If you could email me your standard info on this set (cost, specs, ect.) it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I just don't get why people are bitching about $10 a movie...TR47 has the best set out there and that's not ripping people off. He could easily charge a heck of a lot more and most moron fanboys would pay...(has anyone checked out the ridiculous prices on EBAY?? Right now some moron is buying the 5Star for nearly $50!) Plus I also find it amazing how people try to use morals when it comes to...oh I dunno..BOOTLEGGING! wtf? Just cheap@$$ people...

If I didn't already have my own project going with my LD's, I would probably buy one from TR47. I would rather give him $200.00 instead of giving Lucas $50.00 for that s^%! he's putting out in September (SE only crap). I hope everything settles down on this matter soon. The only person to blame for all of this George Lucas himself. If he wasn't so stuck on his SE only policy, there wouldn't be a need for bootlegs.

I know this isn't going to happen, but I would love to see sales his set in Sept. be far less than expected (if he doesn't throw in the Original Versions). Maybe that will finally send it home to Lucas that we don't want his revisionist cinema.

Thanks for the praise, but basically my view on the matter is: you either want them, or you don't... and either is fine by me-I'm not going to get into a squabble about the finer points of ethics regarding it. If it was feasible for me, I could easily print the covers/inserts/discs, add cases, ask double what I am now and people would probably pay it. Anyway, from what I have read Lucas actually didn't want them to be released yet, but immense pressure from Fox caused this to happen due to overwhelming demand. Basically it was a studio decision, not a director's decision. I'm sure the impending swelling of Lucas' coffers probably helped dissolve any last bit of hesitation he may have had.

Again...the torrents are down. They're currently not working.

Btw...considering the attitude shown by TK-47, I'm seriously considering doing B&P's for anyone who wants this set. That means...you send me 4 blank DVD-R disc plus a postage paid package for the blank DVDr's to be sent back to you. I'll burn them and put them into the package and just drop them in the nearest box. It's the least I could do for the fans who really want it. I wouldn't want to make any money off of this.

For everyone else who is wondering about PMs... click on the "profile" button in the button bar at the top right of this screen. Scroll down about 2/3 of the page and click the radio button for allowing private messages. That should take care of it.
