I wouldn't believe everything you read on the internet. By now, the people who've capped the HD screenings would have been able to tell that they're just upscales. I guess it wouldn't surprise me though...

No, that's total BS, I remember Adywan once did some 1080p vs 720p picture comparison of some ESB screenshot and the difference in detail was  quite apparent.

Are we even having this argument? We know the 2004 SEs were done in 1080p. The Blu-rays will be 1080p. This 720p thing is nonsense.

30 hours of Special Features in marketing language means the following thing:

6 movies a 2 hours, each with an audio-commentary, equals 12 hours of bonus features.

If they add another audio-commentary, another 12 hours is 'away'.

So in worst case: only 6 hours of footage besides audio stuff will be featured, spread over 3 BDs.

Btw: the official Blu-Ray Teaser is now avaiable in 720p:

Why is he SO proud that he doesn't have the money to preorder it until the week before it comes out?

Ugh. I can't stand the sight of it anymore. Especially the classic scenes combined with the prequel trilogy garbage. LFL fanboys are on the offensive too:

HAHA! I love the idiot ramblings of the virgin geeks who complain and? whine to the ends of the earth for no blu-rays then when they get them they? continue to bitch about more irrelevant shit no one but them cares about. Enjoy or shut your gobs. If you think these are inferior to the original theatrical cuts, you are stupid beyond reach.

You know, being a Star Wars fan can be the most taxing thing to put one's self through.  Ever.

Well, maybe not hte most taxing thing ever, but I certainly do agree with the sentiment.  It's a very annoying fanbase...

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Being a fan on the OOT though, that is a cross to bear. Most of the time people don't know what you are talking about.

Agreed.  That's what I meant by being a Star Wars fan.  :)  The OOT is the ONLY Star Wars in my book.

...or 10 parsec's ago.  He's really developed his own universe.

Is kenkraly just copying and pasting the same comments on every site that mentions the blu-rays? he mus have commented the same stuff on dozens of sites already and surely there is no way you can spell august wrong so many times.

Should I mention the "lair" thing again?

Speaking of the Blu Ray re-release, has anyone else noticed that the new Krayt Dragon roar is on the official Soundboards?

What's even more amazing, is that he posted the same thing over and over onto the blu-ray.com site.  About once every 25 or 30 posts, there's another kenkraly entry saying exactly the same thing.

It is hilarious that they spend money and time screwing around with yet another Krayt dragon sound (when the original, original wasn't a problem) but can't be bothered to repair damage done in 2004 or even sort out the Emperor's slugs which should be pretty simple with the tools currently available.

Wait? Isn't a Krayt Dragon that skeleton C-3PO passes? Since when did we hear it roar?

People at Blu-ray.com are still still calling us wrong and saying shit like the changes made were done by the creator of the movies, not someone like Ted Turner so our points are invalid.

Oh yeah, kenkraly has new posts up too.

God help us all.

No, of course not.  It is maddening nonetheless, that's all.  :)

Here is an article by Mark Picirilli that incorrectly tries to tie Kershner, his death, and the Blu-rays together, as well as my response.  These guys need to be responsible for their mistakes.

http://www.examiner.com/sci-fi-entertainment-in-philadelphia/with-star-wars-blu-ray-release-philly-native-kershner-deserves-a-nod

The below statement prompted me to email him:

"Kershner, who died on Nov. 27, 2010 at the age of 87 at his home in Los Angeles after a three and a half year battle with lung cancer, surely would have loved seeing his vision come into homes as it was intended to be seen."

My email:

Mark,

The above statement is untrue.

The version that is coming to Blu-ray is unfortunately the 2004 DVD cut, NOT the original 1980, award-winning, Kershner-helmed version.  He questioned the additions and did not think they were necessary, as so many of us also believe.  We are facing a serious crisis in film history at the hands of George Lucas.  Since 1997, he has been oppressing, removing, and destroying prints of the original 1977, 1980, and 1983 versions of the Star Wars Trilogy.

We can really use the help of journalists such as yourself.  If anything, we need the CORRECT version of events to be told and spread.  There are so many people that still to this day DO NOT know what has happened and consider the 1997 and 2004 versions to be the originals.  Even documentaries and books about the originals mistakenly use images from 1997 and 2004 versions.

I urge you to take a look at these sites to show the truth and the real history of these beloved films:

There's only like 10 damaged weirdos there who seem to have made Lucas their pretend dad and have a whole Rupert Pupkin relationship with him. If they ever agree with you, that's when you worry.
