Oh yeah, that would be it. Bummer about the price, though. Looks like I won't be adding BANDITS BANDITS to my collection anytime soon.

If you could check about the Blu-ray, though, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

Is there any way to verify that this German edition of Time Bandits on Blu-ray is actually Region B and not region free?

http://www.amazon.de/Time-Bandits-Blu-ray-John-Cleese/dp/B0045XQZIY/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1294468057&sr=1-1

On that note, does anyone have the R2 French Studio Canal DVD of Time Bandits? I can't find it on Amazon.fr, but it has an excellent set of features as details here:

http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=2333#4

The german BD is Region Coded B according to the ofdb.de

accodrding to ofdb.de this is the featured stuff on the german disc. (Sorry not translated, just quoted :D )

Well phooey. I don't have a region-free Blu-ray player and can't see myself buying one anytime soon. Thanks for getting that info, though!

Is it true that the unrated Director's Cut never made it to US DVD? Well there is a german DVD from Kinowelt containing the unrated Director's Cut. (Be careful in germany the r-rated Cinematic Cut is called 'Director's Cut' amd the unrated only is called "Special Edition"

The german BD sadly just contains the r-rated cinematic Version...

The japanese DVD also seems to contain the unrated Version, additionally it contains the r-rated version ... the "Scanbox" (production company) DVDs from norway, finland and danmark also seem to contain the unrated DC...

Edit... after dark_jedi's request:

I talk about Wes Craven's "SCREAM"

Hello folk,

some more ore less "news" from european and german DVD/BD market.

About the Movie Transporter 2: The Mission:

As far as I know the US Version is censored. The erotic dessous of Katie Nauta are colored blak or red. Additional one scene is stated to be cut some frames.

The German DVD so far is the normal uncensored Cinematic Version, with improved CGI, while theire are french, belgian and UK releases which are somebit longer and containing some unimproved scenes.

(The french, belgian and UK Versions are about 24 seconds longer than the german DVD release wich just kontain the normal cinematic release.)

And now:

On June 5th or 6th a new german DVD and BluRay Triple Box is released, containing a version of the movie already screened on television in germany with about 6 minutes more than the french uncensored Version.

Here is a comparison between the german normal DVD and the french version.

And here is a comparison between the french Version and the upcoming german release/TV Version.

Unfortunately both comparisons are in german.

As soon as I know if the new German triple release containing englisch audio I let you know. Poorly the new version of Transporter II is just released in the triple feature. (I preordered the BluRay Edition...)

Edit:

At the german ofdb.de the US DVDs of Transporter (1) seems to be cut in some small action moments. There some uncut releases of this movie on the european DVD Market.

The australian, the UK and the Hong Kong DVDs seems to be even cut as the US release. The french, belgian, japanese and german Editions are uncut and all containing english audio, and audio in the language of the country.

Edit 25th July.:

The BluRays of The Transporter triple Pack come all with English Audio and english Subtitles. According to the german ofdb.de the DVDs of the triple Feature are containing englisch Sub and Audio, too.

As said before, the german release of Transporter 2 is about 6 minutes longer than the uncensored french release. It has a running time of 94:11 Min with credits, and 87:30 Min without credits.

Additional Information:

The Transporter - The Mission extended (longer than the french Version) is avaible now as a normal edition without being in a triple pack... about 14 Euro at amazon.de...

Also, keeping with the conversation on THE TRANSPORTER, can anyone tell me if anything exists of the "missile deflection by china tray" scene that was in THE TRANSPORTER movie trailer but not in the movie?

I know people ragged that scene in particular for being a bit over the top, but I always saw movies like THE TRANSPORTER and CRANK as live-action LUPIN THE 3RD type movies.

You can see it here at 1:07:

What's the story behind them touching up the special effects on Tporter2?  Was that done for DVD because it was rushed to theaters, or is it some sort of "special editioning"?

I wish there was a sharp anamorphic transfer on  the Rocketeer  Even the Pal version that is anamorphic is said to be not much better than the r1 laserdisc master port that is non anamorphic.

I have also seen the 1080i broadcast caps on screencaps remade into a 720P and that was soft as well.

Some of the touched up (in the french theatrical version) Special Effects seem to be "corrections" to give some more 'realistic' (as far as this is possible).

Here ( http://www.schnittberichte.com/schnittbericht.php?ID=3108137 ) is a comparison between the french and the international Version.

The international version seems to be someway censored in action.

There are 4 official Versions of Transporter - The Mission:

- French uncensored theatrical Version (seem to have some CGI improvements)

- International theatrical Versions (shorter than the french without improved CGI)

- German Long Version ( basing on the french with better CGI, but about 5 minutes longer)

- US Version (basing on the international Version, but more censored)

I don't know if there are english languages comparison pages, sorry.

Japan is just way to damn crazy ass expensive to order from, I really would like to know why in the hell they think there movies should cost SO much more than anywhere else in the World? just damn crazy, and it is not just the shipping that kills it, it is the overall price, OH and in case you didn't know, there are the Rob Zombie versions LOL.

Thanks

I don't live in France but I normally get their Blu-Rays from amazon.fr. They sometimes have discounts from the retail price so that makes up for their high shipping (9 euros per shipping plus 1.90 euros per item). They have a lot of the Franch exclusive Blu-Rays from Pulp Fiction to Zombie (the Argento cut of Dawn of the Dead in HD!).

I am looking for The Transporter, and Transporter 2, France is the only place to get these 2 titles uncut and region free.

Now I may have to look for Zombie to.

The Trilogy is definitely better priced, but I do not know for sure that the uncuts are in that set, I do know for sure that the single releases are uncut of 1 & 2, there is no uncut version of part 3, damn I wish I could find out if the Trilogy has part 1 & 2 uncut, is a better price.

Thanks for the Zombie link, I will need to check that out.

*edit - damn, is Zombie only in French language?

According to this, the Zombie Blu-Ray has an English language track. Unfortunately, like some French Blu-Rays, it forces French subtitles when watching in English. If that is the case, is it possible to rip the Blu-Ray video and re-mux it with the English language track but not the French subtitles? That would make a great presentation of the Argento Cut.

Despite saying that it has some compression artifacts, the screen shots look decent. This is probably the best copy of the Argento Cut out there.

EDIT: Not to derail this thread too much but does anyone know if the UK Dawn of the Dead Blu-Ray looks superior to the US one?
