Lucas dies. World mourns. Consumer and liscensee confidence in the "SW" brand drops.
The OOT is released in a pristine restored BluRay condition. Rereleased to theaters. Sells millions, revitalizing company.
So they can do what?
Understand the pipe dream senerio, but add in a bit of reality. I'll start:
Agree with the first two, but the third is hogwash. People still like Disney shit even though Walt is gone and Roy's consistently questioned.
Agree the OOT will be released. We'll be past BluRay at that point. Might not be theaters then. Earn biagillion space bucks sure. but not sure what a revitalized company will bring about.
Would rather Lucas before death appreciate the public sphere's ability to preserve his work and he offers them into the Public Domain.
Ok back to the looonie bin I go. and that has nothing to do with the topic.
Lucasfilm could be seen as setting up Filoni (content), Woods (Skywalker Sound), Knoll (ILM), Roffman (stays as marketing) as SWs future overlords.
*EDIT*
or Pixar will purchase LFL. They've got the content people which LFL at the moment seems to be lacking.
