Merry Christmas everyone!

I also remember the good'ol days, reading idea after idea for how to make George Lucas's mess into a movie we can all agree on. So much accomplished, from re-scoring the iconic theme to making Anakin into the man we wanted to see. It goes to show that when people come together like this they can really share a lot of opinions on how to do something as big as a blockbuster movie. And that counts for something.

We're still pulling for you TM, even if it takes another 5 years and another 100 pages of discussion! Forums are not about results, they're about sharing ideas and feeling good about them. Whatever year it comes out, whether 2012 or 2027 (the 25th anniversary of AOTC) we'll be right here cheering you on. Good luck!

Wow this edit sounds exciting! I'm willing to wait as long as it takes to get done.

Out of curiosity and an unabashed desire not to thumb through 103 pages, what do you need read?  Is there a particular accent or anything needed?

Just curious, because I have a face for radio and a voice to go with it.  :)

Thank you Kenobius.  As I recall, we needed a new dub for Mas Amedda.  It was only a handful of lines. That would be a huge help.

A bigger task would be to do a different dub of Anakin.  I mean, my voice was OK as a workprint guide, but I don't know how convincing it will be in the final film.

I agree you need a redub of Anakin (no offence to your voice, of course). It sounded good in parts  but not so much in others. You considered redubbing with an English (Sebastian Shaw) accent?

Interesting idea.  I hadn't considered that.  It would make sense though.

I've always thought it odd that Lucas gave young Anakin an American accent.

Sure he will spend the years between ROTS and ANH surrounded by Imperial officers with strangely English accents but I doubt if that alone would make him sound like Seb Shaw over the years.

I may be too old to pull off a dub but I'm willing to give it a go.

I do a good RP accent, though I must confess I'm more an Obi-Wan than an Anakin.

Though I can do a passable Palpatine too.

What exactly is this project about and are there any samples of cuts/edits/effects?

Trooperman's sig has a link to what the project is about. There are some poor quality clips on youtube somewhere I believe (though don't ask me where) but it's really worth checking out the workprint, which ben_danger was kind enough to send me. It really has to be seen to be believed how promising this edit is. Many of the changes are just inspired!

Trooperman, if you want me to take a look at some voice overs, let me know.

Yeah, I read about this a while back and had high hopes for it.  It's a shame it seems to be permanently stalled.  I honestly hope someone makes use of the various ideas in the many PT edits that seem so promising and now seem dead (i.e. this one, TheCutter's Ep. III edit, Bobgarcia's edit, apparently SSRW had some good stuff, etc.)

i think this edit will always be on the ambitious end of the spectrum, but a better workprint could always be made.

BobGarcia and KCutter's edits aren't dead, are they?!

Well, I hope not, but they haven't said much or anything for a while now it seems.  I have no inside scoop, though.

I was working on this with Trooperman, and have not heard a word. Wish I had. =/

The workprint I have of this is still the prequel edit I watch the most.

I haven't found another that brings the love story to life as much, nor feels as much like a fresh new Star Wars movie.

The unfinished beats and missteps are there and I know they can be hard to overlook for some, but I guess I'm lucky they don't bother me that much. I'll always want the polished version of this... until someday, magically or through sweat equity, I will have one.

Yeah, it really is something to see. I agree, this still stands as the strongest Ep. 2 edit even in workprint form.

I was really excited about what we were going to be doing to the edit. I keep hoping T-man will pop in and say he's been editing away all this time.

Checked and he hasn't logged in since January. =(

only as pass-it-forward, trooperman didn't want it shared online.

i could arrange some copies for distribution if it would bring some more attention to the edit.

I personally think that would be best, as it appears he is done with the edit.  Perhaps others can be inspired by his efforts.

Not that it matters at the moment, but a lot of his ideas were finding there way into my Redemption edit. =/
