Bob, another idea:

In order to keep makin Anakin more independent, even from Palpatine... after the opera scen when palps suggests anakin to lead the mission to kill grievous... why don't you make him not to say a thing of Palpatine suggestion to the council... like he already knows he won't be sent.

So you'd be constructing a character that swallows all this advises, and then he finally explodes in the pshyco Vader is, instead of having him being a puppet of Palpatine.

Of course, with this you'd make Anakin more independent, but what's more, it'd make Palpatine's mechanism more subtle. I mean, the smarter the guy you twist his mind is, the smarter you gotta be to do it.
