Having recently spent many snowy evenings watching the sun sink fast, I've noticed the light conditions do resemble those of the otherwise awful DVD version of the Hoth scenes.

While I'm loving the the fresh tint free snows of ESB:R another editor might like to employ intelligent blue shifting to the tint free evening shots (maybe making the blue shift more notable as the evening came on) for the scenes after the ice-cave.

It shouldn't be just a blanket tint though as I'm sure area illuminated by Luke's light saber would appear brighter and maybe a different hue of blue than the general location.

It would also make the bright white snow of the morning after really stand out.

Which would make sense, being that snow is made of the same water that is in the atmosphere, which helps (along with the nitrogen and oxygen) to give the sky it's blue color to begin with (due to light refracting off of the N, H and O molecules).  In a duskish setting, ambient light is going to be refracted from the snow, which is going to refract the same light wavelength as the sky itself on a clear day for the same exact reasons.
