Can't be a Buddhist-Methodist anymore than you can be an atheist-Christian or a Muslim-Christian. Two separate religions cannot be combined into one. Anymore than a person for classification purposed can be an Democrat -Republican

I take what he said as combining his being raised as a Christian and the values he took away from that, to his adult self and eastern spiritualism he embraced.

I also understand other than in idealism he is not a classical Buddhist because he does not really seem to practice the religion its more of a social/psychological construct taken from his study of Joseph Campbell than anything.

You know like new age spiritualism and Zen the left embraced in the sixties, which confuses those in the east who are true adherents to the religion who it is a lifestyle and not just a mental vision/construct.
