Yes.

SW on blu will sell like mad. It doesn't matter what version, because the general public will not care. "It's new, HQ, HD, and looks great! What's your problem?"
I used to have respect for the people of the New Hollywood. Then they got lobotomized and emasculated or burned out or destroyed.
I can understand people not wanting to bash GL for the fact that he did make these wonderful films. That was my mentality until the butchering of THX and the 3D plan.
That people have stopped caring is a sad sign that Lucas is not only winning, but that he is making his victory lap in destroying film history. 50 years from now people will think dated 90s CGI was actually from the late 70s.
Plus, with the implosion of the New Hollywood movement, American film began its slow inevitable decline into Transformers Revenge of the Fallen and Avatar. It will only be a matter of time when Transformers 5 wins the Oscar for best picture. It's gone to the point where Hollywood filmmaking is on the same level with Uwe Boll or the Friedberg/Seltzer duo, and is dead as a doornail, even though they rake in billions through high ticket prices and manipulating people to see their shlock.
People who decry SW for ruining Hollywood are laughing all the way to the bank now...

This is probably what bothers me the most about Lucas' stance on the Special Editions.
50 years, nothing. A huge percentage of everyone who isn't a male age 20-60 thinks that right now.

See why I act emo around here. GL is getting away with murder here, and everyone could care less. Screw petitions, we need to make an indictment against him, or at least a punch in the face.
I agree GF. GL is nothing more than a greedy, rich, selfish prick. I'd love to punch him in his fat greedy nose. Id love to pelt him with rotten eggs and tomatoes!

I want to 1st make a statement about the color changes to the star wars films for the SE dvd's released back in 2004. 1st off I give I understand now their are major color timming problems with the films (Yes I've seen the light) like the blue tint to hoth , the pink tint on the explostions . the bad lightsabers etc. But it is those changes that are noticeable on the warm setting on my hdtv other than that the colors of the films are the same like they have been before. I hope and pray these problems are corrected for the blu-ray released in 2011.
I don't care about the bad color timing... These aren't the films we're looking for.
I love how it's gotten to the point where some people will actually be grateful if they don't screw up the most basic shit, 7 years after the fact. It's like preschool kids' standards. Good for you! You tied your shoe! What a smart giant corporation you are! Now let me drop 100 bucks on your wildly incomplete box set.
Lucasfilm: making the worst possible product since 1999.
And when the reviews for the BD come out, you know they are going to overpraise the quality.

So you just need to adjust your tv?
What?
Yea the color changes are noticeable on the cool setting not warm or warm 2.
I'll never understand why TVs think they're smarter than the thing inputting the picture. "Warm", "Cool", that PROGRAM knows what its supposed to look like, dumb TVs...
TO BE CLEAR: "TVs", not "TV's". TV's is not dumb.

^To be fair, I'm not smarter than the thing inputting the picture.
ken, I sort of envy you and your uncomplicated, rose-colored glasses view of Star Wars.
Nah, not really.
I bet a pair of those would fix the overly blue picture on the DVDs!TV's Frink said:

Whenever colors are messed up, there is always a cost when correcting it on your set. For instance, if things got tinted blue, then reducing the blue will turn things that are supposed be blue into light blue. Altering colors in post-production = loss of information.

I was just watching the ILM: Creating the impossible documentary and they showed a few scenes from TPM. Now this was presented in HD and this was definitely the new TPM transfer that will be on the Blu-Ray. The difference between the existing HD transfer (which is the same as the DVD transfer) and the new one is astounding. Now this was taken from a compressed broadcast so some detail is probably lost, like grain etc, but now the proof is out there that it will indeed be a new transfer with the colouring fixed.
Now they also showed a few clips from the OT and, to me, the colouring looked almost the same as the 2004 transfer. I'm going to go through it to get some comparison snapshots and i'll post them later. But if the colouring is indeed the same then you can almost guarantee that this is what we'll get for the Blu-Ray. And to kenkraly, before you pipe in and say you're convinced that the colours will be fixed for the millionth time, just stop to think about this: Why would they use clips from the new transfer of TPM, yet not use a new transfer of the OT? Well that's because they haven't done anything to it and that the 2004 version is what will be on the Blu-Ray.
Wow, that looks so much better! Much more detail visible as well. :)
Well, guess what? I was right. The OT clips were from the same 2004 transfer.
So you can now stop saying the colours will be fixed kenkraly because here is the proof that they will not.
Yeah, no surprise there, sadly. The focus is always on the PT.
You know aside from the improved detail of a new transfer, I think I like the old colouring of TPM. For sure it's too red, but the new transfers seems way to yellow, too milky and too bright. It makes the image look more artificial, IMO, whereas the older transfer had better (but still imperfect) contrast and gave better definition. Whatever.
I think the gamma has been turned up on the broadcast because i had to lower it slightly on the Hoth shot to check if its was the same colouring, which has made the TPM pics look brighter because i didn't adjust them. You can see some issues with the darker areas which are commonly attributed to a gamma increase, but this is how i remember seeing TPM in theatres. It was never pink
here's the arena pics with the gamma adjusted to the same level i adjusted the Hoth picture:
