I really don't understand why this wont be released in MKV. It would take almost no effort to make the encode from the source material.
That would be far superior to recoding from the down sampled audio and video of the DVD9.
dark_jedi has covered this before, but I am going to chip in and say this:
If .mkv will "take almost no effort" to do like you say, then it shouldn't be a problem doing it yourself from the finished material, once dark_jedi has finished.
Right now, he is trying to just get it 'done' and he has other worries like the recent GOUT problem he discovered in the other thread.
