I'm a newbie. Please forgive me for bumping this thread, but after watching the Puggo Grande once again, I've developed a theory. It looks as if the GOUT/Definitive Collection/Faces master more closely matches the 1977 theatrical prints than the early 1980's home video releases. I wonder if the colors were altered for the 1981 theatrical release to be brighter (i.e. R2-D2 alone in the desert). It's possible that all the 1980's home video releases were based on this print until the Definitive Collection master was color-timed to match the original 1977 prints.

If this has already been proven false and is a "stupid" theory, then I apologize for my ignorance.
