I posted that more because I wanted to get an update from Adywan on the Wampa and not to discourage him from doing it because I'm not in favor of it, "because it's taking too looong." I apologize for sounding insensitive. I'm being very patient with Adywan, I don't care if it takes him another 2 years. I just get a feeling this Wampa isn't going to work out after all the effort he puts into it. I am aware of the money and effort that has gone into that Wampa so far, but that is part of film making, sometimes you have to scrap things you've put a lot of effort into to get the project done on budget and in a timely manner, not that I care about the time part. I want the Wampa to work just as much as anyone, but I don't think it's going to look any better than the one already there.

I've heard about this Sevb kid, Adywan told me about him, but I haven't noticed him. He sounded like an annoying prick that doesn't appreciate the effort put into this (sorry for sounding hypocritical here).

I don't take back my comment about Vader saying "No Luke, I am your father." I really do want Adywan to make Darth Vader say it that way. I was actually surprised the way you guys took that one. I thought you guys would be in agreement with me on that. I don't even think Adywan took that one seriously. But I suppose it's better to correct misquotes than to correct the movie to misquotes ;-).

You're making it sound like he shouldn't try just because it might fail.  I think Adywan would much rather try, then scrap it if it's not up to snuff.

Good point Chainsaw, hopefully Adywan will say something to reinstate my confidence on this. I think he has the skills to make a convincing still image of a Wampa, but to make one move convincingly, idk, that takes a lot of skill in the motion control department. People go to school for that stuff. Adywan seems to be very good at teaching himself, but I'm nervous thinking about how he is going to get its arm to move on screen in continuity to its body and head move at the same time. Maybe he is way ahead of me on this. I'll go back and see what I can find on this, but so far I haven't seen any images of it besides the fur.

This is wrong on so many I levels I shouldn't even comment, but being somewhat of an artist myself  I can't help but get annoyed here. I went to art school for 5+ years and the one thing I learned above all else is, you can't teach quality. Ady's doing more than most 3 yr art grads, by actually making something, let alone at a standard that is on par with major fx houses. The hardest part to art isn't making it look good, its getting the time to refine it. Most productions are done and over with in 18 months time, fx work usually being done in the last 10-8 months. Really, the fact he's already made SWR is proof enough he knows his craft, you on the other hand I have doubts. Oh, and welcome to the forum. ^^

I agree with you totally sketchrob, Adywan could be a professor at a visual arts school easily. The amount of time/work he is doing is more than equivalent to a bachelor's degree is some arts. The Wampa he is doing sounds like a combination of puppetry and animatronics. IDK if it is going to be all puppetry or a combination of both. I can't imagine it being all anamatronically controlled. IDK what skills Adywan has in that? He hasn't proven that he has skills in that field yet to my knowledge. That's what is getting me nervous. I think Adywan's edits are a great example of how to use computers as a tool and not as the means to create art and he uses all of his tools at his disposal.

"Really, the fact he's already made SWR is proof enough he knows his craft, you on the other hand I have doubts."

What craft do you think I'm trying to prove? I didn't know I was trying to prove a craft?

"Oh, and welcome to the forum"

Thanks, I was waiting for somebody to say that.

He's already proven that if something isn't up to his standard, he'll dump it, no matter how hard he worked on it.  I have every confidence that he'll exercise the same restraint with the Wampa.

Jesus. If you dont have the integrity to stand by your suggestions, you shouldn't post them in the first place.

Adywan is building most of a suit. He's going to move it with his head and arm (or one of his kids). Ady has all of this planned out. He's not new to the rodeo and NO ONE knows his past experience because he doesn't share it.

Patience is the name of the game. Continuity is the point of the edit, and having three completely different Wampas in the course of 5 minutes is something that should be fixed. Ady knows how to do it. Let him finish.

I really didn't write for a long time, Ghostbusters, but I do now, thx to you. I would really kindly suggest to you to read the whole thread first, so you can get the certain feel for kind of suggestions people bring in here, namely all usually and fortunately not-long-lived ridiculousness as well, before you ask for something like this again. I don't want & also can not anyway mob anybody here but this is what happens to some people asking for weird dubiously motivated changes like

"Luke, I am your Father".

1. In our school we were saying just "I am your father".

2. It really doesn't matter who misinterpreted the line of original movie every day anywhere in the world, incl. your school

3. Vader says this:

"No. .. I am your father"

"Luke... ....son, come with me"

"Luke , it is your destiny"

As you see, it's very easy to mix this 3 versions for some kids.

4. There are hundreds of people reading what you write, awareness of that might help.

5. Welcome to the forum and I wish you luck in your communication here

wise you must be.

"I think you should just give up on this" and "I don't think it's going to look any better than the one already there" have to be the worst ways to get an update that I can think of. You need to seriously reconsider your approach to suggestions on this board. If Adywan says he's going to do x, y, or z, it's because he has every confidence that he can execute it as well as, or better than, ILM did in 1980. Maybe you're young, so I'll give you that you have a lot to learn about tact. Compare:

"Adywan, I think you should just give up on this Wampa. It's taking too long and you don't even know if this is going to work? I thought the one in the movie sufficed. I think you should have just edited using that."

vs

"Adywan, I think the Wampa is the boldest change you're making to this edit, and I'm really curious how you plan to execute it. Do you have any experience with puppetry or animatronics? If you got to the end and it didn't look right, would you scrap it after all the work you put into it?"

This has been a brief lesson in tact by the Official Wampa Comber of the Revisited Project.

Ghost--  There is a problem with your assumptions that is so staggeringly obvious that I can't believe you aren't seeing it.....

You have NO IDEA WHATSOEVER if or how Ady is making progress with the bantha creature.  He quite simply has not given us enough information to have any kind of realistic and meaningful point of view about it.

The fact that you personally cannot believe that it is possible for him to do it well, based in part on the fact that all Ady has shown us is a picture of the fur, makes my point for me.

Please, don't try to tell him what he CAN'T DO!  It's a good way to kill someone's creative energy.

First rule of the internet - never change your mind, allow someone to convince you of something, concede a point or otherwise accept human fallibility. That will be a sign that you are WEAK. ;)

Wow dude. That has to be the most idiotic reasoning for the most idiotic suggestion for this edit. So you're suggesting that Ady change the line because some schoolchildren misquoted it? What is wrong with you?

Author

Adywan, when Vader says "No, I am your father!" I think the "no" is a little under-emphasized. Could you please change it to "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooo!!! I am your father!" That would be more in keeping with Vader's character as revealed in ROTS.

Thank you. I know you'll do the right thing.

That's it, I'm leaving! First I try to butter up to you guys and you say I'm weak. Then I stand by my principles and you tell me I'm an idiot. I done talking to you guys. I'll tell you how I really think. There is nothing wrong with my posts. You guys are being picky a-holes. I didn't realize originaltrilogy is a gated community of snobs. I'm communicating through Adywan exclusively for now on.

Goodbye forever

Calling you weak was a joke by Histeria. And no one called you an idiot, I said that your suggestion was idiotic, because you haven't supported it by any sound reasoning whatsoever. But if you wanna leave, godspeed to ya.

Guys, if someone makes an offhand remark or literally starts to troll, just don't respond.  It seems that all someone has to do is post something slightly ignorant or offensive to get 2+ pages of responses stating the same thing over and over.

Instead, just email Moth3r to remove said unnecessary post(s) to clean the thread, so only TRUE suggestions (such as the hanger bay matte replacement material and Angel's Executor suggestions) and update posts from Adywan remain.

Regardless, how are things going, Ady?  I hope everything is going well with your father.  Even so, if you can find the time, maybe post an update once a month just to give us something to bite on.  Otherwise, I will be patient and wait for updates and the eventual release...

And Ghostbusters?
Don't take things so seriously... this is the internet after all.  Just think about what you're going to post before you post it, with the context of of everything around it (ie. if you already know that Adywan is making this to be as close to the original 1980 version but with some 2010 visual flair, there is no point in making a suggestion to include Prequel or EU stuff in EMPIRE:R, not that you specifically have done that).

nice work guys, now who you gonna call?

Alright guys I'm gonna step in and say this:

To Ghostbusters: If you seriously have a strong opinion, stand with it and put your reasoning behind it, if ady doesn't want to, then he doesn't take it. You can always edit it to your own liking later. No point in trying to convince people that your perspective is the correct one.

To the posters bashing him: The majority of you who did so were acting pretentious and it just came across as hypocritical. Even if you and 99% of the forums disagree with his opinion, it isn't your job to call it idiotic or force him to conform to your perspective.

To those who think insulting ady or suggesting he quit: You realize ady isn't weak right? Imagine all the errors he's faced along the way and how strong his sense of perseverance is. A complaint (etc) towards ady will not make ady quit - if anything it'll only motivate him to do better. Now I'm not saying insult ady or tell him to quit, but I'm saying you don't need to defend ady - he's got a strong enough sense of perseverance and a strong enough character to take care of himself.

I think we all need a serious lesson in tact. Let's move on, shall we? :)

Any word of the second unit led by 'Rogue Leader', did Ady send out all the backpacks and props he created?

Changing iconic dialogue to conform to what a few people mishear or misremember is a poor suggestion.  Telling adywan to abandon something without knowing anything about how far he's gotten is a poor suggestion.

I believe in calling a spade a spade.

I'm not sure I follow what you are saying all the way through this paragraph, but to address the first part:

Who suggested adywan should quit, other than Ghostbusters saying he should quit on the Wampa?  I do hope it was obvious my post was sarcastic.
