Mine is from a group my friends made in high school, back when everyone was obsessed with GoldenEye 64. We all picked numbers, I got 005. When I wanted to change my lame first.last@juno.com email address (to give you an idea of how long ago this was), it hit me to spell it out. I've used it for everything ever since.

And here I was thinking your name was "Double Of Ive" as in you looked a lot like Alan Iverson. Silly me.

Mine is a nickname I was first given in school around age 13.  Fresh into being teenage boys, it was very funny to go around referring to everything as 'hairy' (as in, "who stole my hairy pencil?").  With 'hen' being an abbreviation of part of my name, "Hairy Hen" was the inevitable result, and remained in use for quite a while.  Among a few friends, I'm still called that occasionally even now.

It seemed natural, therefore, to adopt it as a screen name.  I first used it on a Harry Potter website in early 2004.  For whatever reason, I spelled it with all lowercase letters and an underscore between the words, and have usually used that same rendition ever since.  I've had other screen names as well, most of them bizarre and some being oblique Tolkien references, but this is by far the one I've used most often.

(The irony of it was that at the time I was actually the least hairy of any of my friends by a considerable margin, though this may not necessarily be true anymore.)

Had I thought of it, I might have gone with "The Drink Inspector", which is what I called myself when I prank-called the Coca-Cola company one time, or a Monty Python kind of name such as Uxbridge F. Stool-Sample or Mrs. B. J. Smegma or something like that.  lol

Mine is a portion of my last name.  Real first name is John.  In high school, we had about four Johns in the class so everyone - including ourselves - took to calling us by our last names or some variation thereof, mostly out of necessity to avoid confusion over who someone was talking to or about.  It stuck.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

Waitasec! Johnny Zizheimer?? From Mountainside High? Wow, small world! It's me, Jon Hagenboost. How are you?

Do you still talk to John-John Bingowingstein or John Jeditrayson? I wonder what happened to those dudes.

I had this issue myself in high school, except we had about four Eriks in the class (though I was the only one that spelled it with a K).

I became known as "Pancakes."

I've actually gotten so used to Pancakes that I respond immediately when I hear the word, even if it's not directed at me.

Mine is derived from my real name. My brother, when he was a small child, could say Adrian properly and called me Adywan and it kind of stuck. plus it sounds vaguely Star Warsish
I had no idea. I thought it was a Star Wars reference only! With that knowledge, its easier to pronounce correctly!

MINE WAS GIVEN TO ME BY MY BANDMATES.  I HAVE A FASCINATION WITH MENTAL DISORDERS, AND DRUMMERS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE AT LEAST A LITTLE BIT PSYCHO.  IT STUCK FROM THEN ON.

AT ONE TIME IT HAD BEEN SUPER DAYV, BUT AFTER COLLEEN AND I SPLIT THAT PART OF ME DIED.  I SAW HER A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, AND SHE TRIED TO CALL ME SUPER DAYV.  I TOLD HER THAT I HADN'T GONE BY THAT IN OVER 13 YEARS, AND THAT IT WAS HER FAULT WHY I HADN'T.

MY FRIEND LINDA ACTUALLY CALLED ME BY MY OLD NICKNAME THE OTHER DAY AS SHE HAD BEEN AROUND WHEN I WENT BY IT.  IT WAS SO OUT OF THE BLUE AND STRUCK ME AS STRANGE.  IT WAS LIKE LUKE MENTIONING THE NAME OBI-WAN TO OLD BEN KENOBI.

I remember hearing Vader say "We will test it on Captain Solo" in ESB and thinking that it made Han sound really really cool. Even Vader had to give the most badass smuggler in the galaxy a title. I'm also a Han fanatic and adore the Daley novels, so it seemed apt.

Yes, I do have the Han standee. Don't judge me. ;)

Plus "Damn Fool Idealistic Crusader" seemed like it was too long of a screen name.

Years ago I was trying to come up with callsign to use in Wing Commander.   I just couldn't think of watch to use.   So I flipped at random through my mom's bird book.   It happened to land on Warbler.   I've been using the name ever since.

I think that was the singularly funniest post I've ever read on OT.com. Glad RedFive made a new redundant thread just like this thread so Fink could link to this thread allowing me to read TheBoost's post so I could laugh so hard I cried.
