Would that be a good idea for the back covers?

I really don't thing so. They've been designed for a specific purpose. It won't make the covers more authentics imho.

D_J, sorry I didn't check. It works fine. Now I can unleash Leguman's wrath on Moth3r for real ! Heheheeee... Eeerr.

Yeah, you definitely want to swap out the G rating symbol with PG

Are you mad? Who needs a parental guidance ? Just to make like they decided 30 years ago ? Haha.

For the text I didn't try to make it the same shape than the original, I don't think. Just the same familly... You know, I don't really remember.

Not mad, I just want the covers to be as authentic as possible, and having the correct rating would go a long way toward achieving that aim.

And yeah, I don't really care whether it's justified or not.  It was just a thought.

^ Someone else ?

Though, I surely haven't replaced it on the posters then you may win this one. Just thank Sluggo for the stunning spotting.

The poster says PG, so keep it consistent ;-)

^ Bravo for the brand new avatar ! Now I can say how much I hated the old one. :)

Yeah, it's gonna be PG cause I thrown the custom material I made about that (just remembered).

Quick question: since I have FireFox instead of IE7 it seems I can't save an image as bmp instead of jpeg. I tried to change manually the extension but didn't seem to work. Any thoughts ?

(IE7 was so much more comfortable... Sigh).

er, if the image on the web is a jpeg, you're going to get a jpeg... if IE7 let you save it as bmp then I'm guessing it simply changed the extension, not the actual image itself. Not that you'd get better quality otherwise.
(oh and if you're going to work lossless, use png ;-) )

It's so great to see this project in its final stages, DJ. I'm very much looking forward to watching these :-)

What I've learned so far is that when you save what is indeed a jpeg on screen, as a jpeg, you create more loss. If you save as bmp, you don't lose more of the original jpeg. Not a big deal in our case though, just asking.

I don't believe that's true.  Saving a jpeg from the Web to your computer recompresses nothing, so the quality will be a 1:1 exact copy of the original jpeg.

I don't know. If you save as jpeg on Photoshop eternally the same file each time you open it you'll see it, even at best level. I've seen a demonstration long ago.

Author

Well, that's because saving as jpeg from Photoshop will always recompress the image.  Saving from the Web to your computer just copies all the information, with no recompression at all.

Also, I recommend TIF or PNG files (both lossless) as opposed to BMP (lossless, but larger file sizes).  I tend to use PNG files the majority of the time.

Ok, thanks.

I haven't worked again on the covers right now but since I guess nobody read our 1st exchanges with D_J some time ago, here's the alt empire horizontal front cover (I love it but could as well hate it if I see it on a real DVD case):

Yeah, now you say it I may ask for a couple of things I'm not sure about in a few hours... Like the font at the top of the front cover "original theatrical edition" (different fron the spine, and from the horizontal covers).

Outstanding.  NOW it feels like the movies.

... Especially since you're using my favorite single-line ESB logo for the spine (the one nobody else seems to use)...

It seems nobody uses it indeed. The reason maybe this one can't be found easily on the net (just a reconstructed one wich sucks) and maybe people are too lazy to scan themselves the one from the SE CDs set, what I did. I've skewed it at 14° as the original two-lines one has been. I don't think it has been made before and looks as authentic as possible. ;)

Is anyone planning putting this on TehParadox like the last version?

I kind of like the darker version better, but both are nice.
