The Blu-Ray player is a PS3, so no, it does not have analog surround outputs. The receiver has 7.1 analog inputs, though. Like it makes a difference. So we're stuck with optical 5.1 audio.
The receiver does have a ProLogic IIx decoder, which will upmix 5.1 audio to 7.1, so the speakers do get used. It also has DTS Neo-6 for DTS tracks, but that will only upmix to 6.1, meaning the rear center channel is split between the surround back left and surround back right speakers in a 7.1 setup. Which is exactly what the Philosopher's Stone 6.1 track did when playing as DTS-ES.
