And don't worry, I don't dislike the Phillies at all. I acutally like them. To be honest, there is only one team in the MLB that I truly hate and that is the Atlanta Braves. Always have and always will.

The Cubs are having their moments this season. They really need to just get their bats warmed up and get Maddux into a zone. They're sitting at 6-7 right now after coming back from a pretty poor start to take a 6-4 record a few days ago. Give them time. Just remember, the Marlins were cellar dwellers until midpoint last season and came back to win it all.

And yes about the hat motti. Blue with a red C in white outline.



Actual hat is brighter blue, but this is the one I prefer.

I don't hate the Yanks because I was such a longtime fan of them. Since 1985 actually. Huge Donnie Baseball freak (Don Mattingly). Can't hate a team I loved for so long. Can only really just not root for them anymore.

In terms of the Cubs hats, I actually prefer the darker blue which is the one pictured in my last post.

But of course Sammy played (and currently plays) for the Cubs. He is now the team's all-time homerun leader. Just passed Ernie Banks this past weekend.

I'm just bummed that Grudzielanek and Prior are both on the DL right now. Bad news. But, Derrek Lee never ceases to amaze me. Got a grand slam yesterday. Go big D!

Yep, Cubbies won 9-1 over Pittsburgh.

SS Alex Gonzalez homered, doubled, and drove in four runs; he's 7 of 13 in his last three games. CF Corey Patterson, 2B Todd Walker, and C Michael Barrett also homered each. SP Carlos Zambrano allowed only one run and seven hits. Good game.

Cubs now have an 8-6 record and are in third place in the NL Central behind Houston (9-5) and Cincinnati (8-5).

Phils are in fourth place in the NL East with a 5-7 record. They can still turn it around. Doesn't take much at this, or any, point in the season, Warbler. Keep hope alive, m'man.

And the Cubs won again. 12-1 over the Pirates. Corey Patterson went 5 for 6. Sergio Mitre pitched a 4-hit shutout. Not bad for a guy who is a backup for Mark Prior.

Cubbies are now in a first place tie with Houston in the NL Central. However, this is, thus far, the most competitive division in the MLB with even the last place team only 1 1/2 games back. It's gonna be a tight race, but a damn good one.
