He is supposed to represent us and now only 40% of Americans support his Iraq war efforts. He needs to get his story straight. He has changed his reasoning for going to war in Iraq so many times. I supported him wholeheartedly in Afghanistan because there were reasons to be there. But, so far, every reason he's presented for going to war in Iraq has fallen flat. Bin Laden? Nope. WMD? Nope. So now it's Iraqi freedom. What right do we have to overthrow a government? None. Just because we don't agree with it. So, by that rationale, any country that doesn't support or believe in democracy has the right to invade and try to overthrow our government (note the emphasis on "try" -- I don't seriously think anyone could actually do it).
I just want to know that we are fighting and dying for the right reasons.
We will never defeat terrorism. It just won't happen. All we are doing is breeding a new generation of terrorists. When people see their loved ones die around them, they become angered and want revenge just like Bush did when the WTC went down. Then those people vow vengeance and become terrorists themselves. Unless we're willing to wipe out the entire population of the Middle East, then it ain't gonna happen. And, even if we did wipe them out, human rights activists and closet supporters in terrorist cells in other countries are still available to make life hell for us. So, it's never gonna end. All we can do is shore up our homefront defenses. And how can we do that when all our military is in every other country but our own? Even our own National Guard is overseas.
Bossk. You are being a moral relativist. Just because someone belives that it is allright to rule by an oppressive despotic pseudo-theocracy doesn't make it allright.
And are you saying we don't have a moral obligation (screw "right") to free people from oppression? Have you closed your ears to the things Hussein has done? If that isn't reason enough to go to Iraq I don't know what is. And saying that because we found no weapons of mass destruction when we went that they never were there to begin with? That is like noticing something missing from your house and then assuming you never had one. It is more worrying that we didn't find WMDs in Iraq because if they were there then they may have been smuggled out of the country.
Ok. I'm done now.
