There is a thread for proposing PT ideas (not just for Ady but everyone considering an edit).

It's been nice to see this thread returning back to ESB:R and it would be a pain to see it wander off course again.

PT idea, Sorry if this is off topic but others are discussing it.

In the PT I think Darth Maul should be called Darth Vader, he should appear throughout the PT and be a big badass evil dude throughout. He should be the one that starts the clone wars under the guidance of Palpatine. Anakin and Kenobi should be his biggest foes and Anakin should be a great hero of the republic with hardly a hint of the darkside.

(etc...)

If Irvin Kerschner had a chance, that would probably be what he came up with. That, and no ewoks, and a dead Solo.

EDIT: I agree Bingowings. Everyone was having a blast over Monro's traffic signs. (yes Frink, you were right)

Seems to be a rarity now to talk ESB:R.....

Anyway, having 2 imperial walkers combine firepower at shield generator is a interesting idea. Ady would have to make a completely new shot/s for that sequence because it wont work as it is. I also hope Ady fixes all the continuity errors with the spacing of the walkers throughout the hoth battle.

I'm interested to know what, if anything, has been done about the shield generator model. I know a custom model was planned at some point, and that good pictures of the movie props were hard to come by. Are there any good ones in the new Making Of book to work with?

Lets get off topic again and talk about the prequels...

Just kidding!

Sorry, it's just I sent Adywan those questions awhile ago through email and he didn't get back to me and I didn't know his means of communication so I thought maybe this thread was the only way to contact him. He didn't make a thread on his prequel edits yet so I thought it would be OK to ask it here, I'll be more careful in the future. I didn't realize you guys were so gung-ho about staying on topic.

But to stay on topic, I would like to add that I think it is a great idea to have multiple Imperial Walkers shooting the shield generator at the same time. It makes more sense why the Empire sent many down there. I was thinking, maybe for the shot where you see the maximum firepower lasers firing at the shield generator, making them green to indicate green is the strongest firepower as that laser is used for the Death Star, Star Destroyers, and the Tie Fighters. But like was mentioned earlier, the blue background might interfere with that so if that is a problem, fine.

Hmmm, giving the AT-ATs green lasers?

What do you guys think? ;)

Author

I just thought it was funny that the green lasers debate pops up again when you least expect it.

Author
Time

Don't know if turning it to green would be the solution. But i think that if Ady's to keep the "increase to maximum fire power" line, there has to be something, anything, different between normal and maximum fire power

Author

How about simply adding a little thickness to them?
Maximum powered lasers could simply have more input, thus appearing bigger and having a bigger impact as well.

The lasers never bothered me as much as Veers telling Vader that he reached the power generators so early in the battle.  He says "I've reached the power generators" over 5 minutes before he actually does.  You'd think he would have more reservations about such optimism considering what happened to Ozzle.

Ady has already said a long time ago the AT-AT lasers will remain red, so your wasting your time with the topic.

All Ady is going to do is brighten the laser cores and possibly add more thickness to the maxim firepower.

Quick question.

Is there any particular reason why ady used/using the same starfields in both episodes so far, at most if not all space shots?

Is there any philosophy or trademark or credit behind this decision?

Just for the sake of difference isnt the starfields being randomly placed/generated in each space shot?

Good to listen that ady :)

I had that feeling that you were using the same starfield that you were using as pattern in ANH:R (dont mention the previous debates about visible similarities of the pattern)

The problem is how can you fight the perception that a starfield is being re-used when all starfields (without obvious astronomical landmarks) look pretty much the same anyway?

That's a level of pedantry that even I wouldn't sink to (and that's saying something).

Even if the starfields were similar, that could easily be explained as stars which are too distant to change position in the sky.

The one background which had always royally pissed me off, even as a kid, is the final scene of ESB when Luke and Leia are looking at the distant galaxy.  That galaxy is huge in the sky, but even so, it would still be at LEAST a few MILLION light years away.  Which means that it should have been visible in every single starfield in the entire Star Wars saga.  There would not be a single place in the galaxy that you could go without seeing it in the sky.  Just like, even if Earth got moved to the other end of the Milky Way, much of the night sky would actually remain the same because of the light coming from stars in galaxies outside of our own.

Well i didnt want having issues like the new starfield in the alien movie. They put the exact same pattern in two sequential shots having the ship looks like it was a pasted element over a cardboard.

Watching what ady doing with variations in the shots it would pity having issues like these in the future

There has already been pages of debate about this. Without starting another debate, I'll say that adywan has decided that is an accretion disc forming around a new star. So, they are still inside the galaxy, positioned just above the orbital plane of a newly-forming solar system. I agree that this makes the most sense.

Okay, thanks.  With 825 pages to catch up on, I'm sure I won't get all of it :P

Ady, when Luke's leaving Dagobah and he goes off the scene and Yoda and Ben rest and the have the reveal that there's another "hope"... are you planing to do something (add some breeze, or a slight tremblor) to make it more denotative of the situation (a fighter taking off)?

I don't know how a breeze or tremor could even be seen.  It's nothing but darkness, a puppet fading in and out, and a disembodied voice.  Not much to be effected.

There's the puppet, the fading, then the light comes again, then it goes off, then a red light comes in, and then it goes... Oh... and there's heavy engine noise...

What if the X-wings don't make a lot of wind when taking off?  Come to think of it, most of the ships in Star Wars take off without much external disturbance.

you are totally right, that's why I also talked about a slight tremblor, or something. There's something in that scene that makes me feel like if something was missing. the same feeling some scenes involving lightgames in Close encounters of the third kind give me.
