Dear You Only Live Twice, I draw the line at Bond being trained to be a ninja. Kthxbi.
First you must become ninja, Bond-san. This...is my ninja training school. This was obviously not written by Roald Dahl, was it? As much as we try to admit its sheer ridiculousness...our childhood bewilderment just won't let us. An army of ninjas attacking a hollowed out volcano rocket base? Blofeld has a face? A piranha pool? Little Nellie? If YOLT has any major flaw it might be that it is too fantastic.

The Haunting and Cat People. (the originals)
Two great horror films that show nothing.
And Simone Simon is smoking hot.
I love Cat People. It foreshadows much of what Tourneur did on Out of the Past. (in my eyes the definitive noir.)
Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein: James Whale brings something new to Uni's horror cycle with his first effort, but it still gets bogged down. His Invisible Man is better. Bride transcends the horror genre and is truly an American masterpiece. "We belong dead!"
"Friend?" (Okay, I couldn't resist typing it...)
Curse of Frankenstein-brilliant little film, and starts the Hammer horror cycle of with a bang. One of my personal favorites. Cushing is riveting as the Baron, who is finally the full focus of the film. The Creature does not appear to at least 45 minutes in and is never the real focus. As far as Frankenstein films go, this is only bettered by Bride. Really wish that the great Hammers could get the restorations they deserve because the dripping Eastmancolor of Curse is extremely muted on the bare bones DVD. I think that Horror of Dracula was restored by the BFI, so maybe a blu-ray is in store.
