Will the color of the star wars films episodes 4-6 be fixed for the blu-ray release?

Will the color of the star wars films episodes 4-6 be fixed for the blu-ray release? That is the big question. I tend to think they will be but I want to get some opinion from the star wars fans on here. Some fans say they won't be however some fans say they will be. I understand people are upset with the colors. What if they will be fixed? So what's your take on this?

1. I highly doubt they'll be fixed

2. The 2004 DVDs rushed?  What?  They had years to work on them!  They weren't rushed, and there is and was no excuse for the many, many issues present in the set.

Good points ChainsawAsh. I still though hold out hope that the colors will be fixed.

"Fixed" is a relative term.  They couldn't be much worse.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

No they're going to fuck it up even worse on the blu-ray, I just know it. First, its being done by the same people who did the 04 dvds, so there's no hope there. Second, the originals aren't going to be released, so who should honestly care about the quality of a product we are not going to even buy? Third, there's DVNR, and I bet Lucas is going use that on the PTSE anyway.

That would be great.  But you didn't ask that... you asked if we thought they would be fixed.  I answered that I think that they won't.  If it turns out that I am wrong, then that would make me happy.

They're going to be the SEs with CGI Jabba, Jedi Rocks and Hayden Christiansen as a force ghost*

Who cares if the colors are fixed or not (not me, anyway).

If I could have the OOT on blu-ray, I'd take it with the 2004 DVD colors and live with it, but there's no way Hayden Christiansen's puss is making an appearance on my TV set as long as I'm physically able to operate a DVD or blu-ray player.

*and let's not forget: people walking aimlessly through cloud city, CGI rontos and Jawas at Mos Eisley, "ring-around-the-death-star", etc., etc.

As I understand it people who went to the Star Wars in Concert reported the colors looked marginally better, ie the Tantive IV looked a little less gray. But the biggest difference is TPM's lacking its horrible pink tint and edge enhancement, which will unfortunately probably go unnoticed by most of this crowd.

good to hear bkev that's one good report that the colors for episodes 4-6 will indeed be fixed.

No, the colours of the OT at the Star Wars concert were exactly the same as the 2004 set. Only TPM had a really good restoration job done to it. The colours in that looked perfect and CG Yoda did look pretty good from the glimpses we got. It was reported by someone who went to CV that the Ep4 showing they managed to catch part of didn't look like it had Luke's green sabre but they weren't sure.

Don't forget that the colour changes were done by Lucasfilm Before they sent it off to Lowrey so i can't see them paying for another restoration

No.

If it's fixed they'll have nothing to sell you when the colours do get fixed for the 3D release. (I do not know if the colours will get fixed for the 3D release, and I'm obviously talking about the domestic 3D release several years from now).

I have a bad feeling about this.

Knowing Lucas, as we all do, I doubt he would waste an opportunity to "tweak" the films a bit more.

Yes, I think the colors will be fixed... and then some.

"Fixed" as in "more in line with George's Original VisionTM", amiright folks?

Worrying about the coloring of the Blu-Ray release is a red herring.

I will take a poorly colored OOT over a correctly colored SE any day of the week.

I will not be motivated to buy the Blu-Ray set by any improved colors.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

I do belive that the colors will be fixed as well. Their is a beleaf by some people that the colors won't be fixed.  The Colors can be fixed LFL will get it done this time around.

A. Don't call kenkraly2007, Shirley.

B. The 'top men' have been sacked and replaced with the 'Top Men'.  There were rumors but they are going to use a new technique called 'Natural Vision' and side by side compare the old crusty version with the newfangled digital blu-hoo version.  Only 'Top Men' can be so trusting.  I mean trusted.

I am curious why you think this.  Lucas has stated very clearly that the color changes were not a mistake, but that they were intentional.  We might consider them mistakes, but he considers them to be improvements. So why would he want to change them back?

They didn't have those colours in 1977, 1980 or 1983.  Parts of the world were still in B&W, and therefore not available to be in the movie as they were in GL's "original visionTM".
