No. it's ok ghostbusters. Janskeet donated solely to upgrade the computer and that was his proviso for the donation. He had already donated towards materials when i was getting the Wampa fur.. I have what i need to work in 1080p for jedi but i need to concentrate on getting ESB:R out of the way first.

It's hard to put a ball park figure on how much would still be needed. A big expense at the moment is the liquid silicone for the molding process . This costs around £90 for a 5.5kg tub (approx 5 litres) and i have gone a tub already and that is with using it sparingly. It really doesn't go very far. I did try using vinamold, which is a reusable rubber,  but this caused hell of a mess and having to melt it in a pot caused a lot of problems in such a small flat even with the windows wide open, plus it had a high tendency for air bubbles. Then there is all the extra bits like liquid plastic, which is a lot tougher than using resin which is perfect for the trooper backpack stuff and other accessories. I may also need more fur. The plans changed a little since it was just going to be a head an shoulders puppet, but i really need to build half a suit that can be used as a puppet and also can be worn for some of the cave shots. Thats going to be fun because i have to build a partial cave set in my front room. Haven't told the wife yet. lol The main problem is that they don't sell the real fur pelts anymore and the only fake stuff that is any good i have to import from turkey (4 inch pile) and this looks exactly the same as the tibetan lamb fur i have so could be used for the body sections. Now this is cheaper than the real fur but it is still over £30 per half metre  and the postage isn't cheap either. And i would need at least 3 metres :(

Plus theres all the other little bits and bobs that all mount up. So i really can't put a close figure on it all. The only thing i can do is once i have everything i need then any donations i receive they will be automatically refunded

And muddyknees, yes that would be fine as long as no donations are taken for any copies of the DVD. If they want to donate on their own accord then that's fine.

Alright then, I'll definitely set this up so that all works out on the legal side of things. I want this money to be able to be put to good use. I'll let you know how things are progressing when I have more news.....might be about a week or so (still waiting for my copy of Revisited in the mail)

Could always go AMD if you want a better price/performance ratio...

Jesus Adywan, I didn't realize you were doing all this set and costume stuff. Are you sure about this? Maybe instead of making a cave you can just shoot behind blue screen? Hell, just use the existing footage of whatever the hell you are making exactly, wampa right? Or is this the "Tahn Tahn", or whatever the hell you call it.

... And a chance it's not about Dagobah's cave. Imagine Adywan renting snakes and lizards... !

Hi Adywan, love the dedication you have for this project.

I had a possible brainwave for how you could maybe recoup your expenses/fund projects...

How about writing a book about your fanedits? It could make an interesting read, and like another sertain dvd i saw (forgot the name) that was about Star Wars but was unnofficial.

Maybe an unnoficial Star Wars fanediting book, maybe with some tutorials added and your whole time doing the project, and how some of this forum community got involved. If you got that published, maybe ig GL may even get hold of it and get you Offically working on the 3D bluray re-release.

On a seperate note, Have you ever thought of doing video tutorials of both how to fan edit a dvd, with lists of programmes used and how too's, I would buy one, and I'm sure others would.

And If you havent already, maybe check out the ...

I know that's merely a very remote hypothetical but I think Adywan has way too much integrity to assist GL in further wrecking the OT.

Or put into a special ROTJ:R savings account? ;)

surely all fans would prefer that than a refund.

From Ady's comment I figure he needs around £500 unless someone has a Tibetan lamb handy, in which case we can save some cash.

And, at the same time, somewhere out there George Lucas spends millions of dollars for $hit that nobody needs...

Adywan, any and all donations from me are not donations, they're gifts from one friend to another. Friends don't ask for refunds. :)

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

Hi Adywan

My best wishes and hope that everything's going OK; I know something of what you're going through right now as I lost my father to cancer 5 years ago.  The most awful time of my life, hopefully your story will have a happier ending!

Anyway, more to the actual ESB:R topic, a minor thing that always bothered me was the Falcon's landing sequence on the pad at Cloud City.  She comes in, fires braking thrusters (or whatever) and then just drops suddenly onto the pad.  As an airline pilot, I've always been bothered by the motion of the Falcon during this part.  It seems to me that the sudden pitch-down just prior to the actual touchdown looks far too abrupt and could be smoothed out a little (though I've had my own share of crappy landings, goodness knows....) And more importantly, although the struts do compress a little, to make it look like an actual ship with mass and momentum, there should be a subtle, fluid bounce-back right after the compression.

I see and wanted to thank you for fixing the other pilot's beef I had -- retracting the gear on the take off!! (both in ANH and ESB)  -- and I humbly submit that the landing sequence itself would look much better (to a professional eye, at least!) with a little additional tweaking of the touchdown.

Wow! Good to have Supervisors and pros contributing here!

I'll admit, I've never really understood why you're going to be new filming physical elements for ESB:R. Would it be too much to ask for an explanation of your reasoning? I am confused..

Because he feels it needs it.

Adywan, just got caught up here in the forum, and I'm very sorry to hear the news about your father. I know that's an enormous weight to carry around. I wish you and your family all the best.

I had a brief exchange with Ady concerning his new filmed elements for the wampa....as I never understood why he'd want to change it either, and I must say he definitely put my concerns to rest. I just checked and would have copied and pasted the pertinent partof the convo, but I had already deleted it. Basically it boils down to Lucas never being able to resepct previously filmed material already included in his movies, and always wanting to go bigger and better when filming new additions. The wampa he filmed for the SE looked nothing like the one in the footage that already existed, and Ady wants to fix this. He is also of the belief that showing so much of the wampa destroyed the suspense of the scene. I definitely felt like I was being very annoying in asking him to justify the changes he was making in an edit that he's doing for free, and for himself, but he was very kind in explaining everything to me, and I think he really understand what it means to be a true fan of star wars and NOT someone who is just bent on giving the movies HIS own spin.
