Why i only said it sounded too clean because of the declicker. I never heard the raw version.
If you are opting for digital clean, then you got what you wanted.
If you want warmer sound you capture and offer them raw warts and all.
Don't cancel your project because of one constructive criticism. It did not sound that bad really it sounded good for an LP rip. I just like the raw captures myself since i am a purist. You already have one person chiming in saying they like it better because of the cleanup.
When 20thCentury Mark original posted his raw captures i made a cleaned version up for myself using goldwave. What i resulted in sounded much like yours, only worse actually because you have a professional mixer.
By the way i only listened to the single jedi LP. Don't cancel your whole project over that. I have not listened to empire strikes back, story of rotj, lapti nek, etc.
Is there a way to use clean up in the software with a lighter touch?
How about just remove the volume limiting you applied i bet that even pop and click free jedi would sound better.
I think the original CD release was similar actually you had to crank it up, but better than a loss in dynamic range. Which was pretty good on your capture the highs seamed to be clipped back a bit though, i did not analyze with software only with my ears so i might be off.
I went to the DAK website and apparently the clean up software is adjustable or you can use the automatic method.
