I read all 12 pages. This sounds like a great project. Can I feel the Force flow too with a PM? Cheers :)

Props to harmy for his great work on this. Most of the annoying SE bits are gone. The explosion scenes in ANH are quite amusing.

Earlier today, i was thinking if someone will ever take the GOUT versions and maybe do some color corrections on them with 1080p or HD quality. And i found this project and i was completely shocked when i found out about it. I don't get why more people have not discovered this yet, but hopefully they will. When it comes to finding  the OT in HD quality with none of the shenanigans Lucas added or any other things that were added such as fan-edits, it is tough. Though Adywan has done a great job with his fan-edits for Star Wars and i look forward to his ESB: Revisited. But anyways, Harmy, you have done a difficult thing and it seems you have accomplished it. A few hours ago, i was thinking of taking the GOUT versions and maybe perhaps do some color corrections on them and make the audio quality better with 1080p and such. But you saved me the trouble of doing that lol, but i was never going to do something like this. It's just too much work and i don't have the time to do something like that at the moment.

I have not seen the films yet, but i have seen the videos you posted on Youtube and i am impressed. Would it be alright if you can send me the links to download the films?

Also, when the films come out on Blu-Ray next year, do you plan to make further updates with the films?

One last question, i know you used the GOUT versions to make your edits, but did you also use the 97 Special Editions?

I look forward to your edits Harmy.

Cheers,

Parth

IIRC, their primary source is a 1080p version of the 2004 SE (from HD broadcasts), with GOUT clips edited in where necessary.  So the majority of the films are in true 1080p, with certain sections upscaled from letterboxed SD.

PM sent, Parth.

To answer your questions:

1) I am going to make a new version of these when the Blus come out and make a few further adjustments to all the films - to name some:

SW:

Get rid of even more Dewbacks and Rontos.

Put back the TRACTOR BEAM sign. I was actually thinking about something like this little compromise using Erikstormtrooper's Engli-Besh font:

ESB:

Remove some more Cloud City windows (maybe)

ROTJ:

Improve the cut to the Sailbarge FX shot (not yet sure how).

Give mr. Shaw his eyebrows back.

2) There is some 97 SE used but very little - the ghosts in ROTJ and whatever Ady used for his ESB AVCHD, which was the main source of my ESB.

This looks quite nice.  Please send a PM my way for all three movies.

I'm realy interested in how good your upscaling looks in HD.  At some point I would like to try this with the non animorphic footage from the MATRIX video game.

I looked at those Youtube clips and it's good stuff.

I will say, that when you take another crack at these next year, think about taking out all of the CGI creatures.  I don't mind the CGI X-Wings, but the CGI animals and droids just take you right out of the movie.

I do have an idea about the cutting in of lower rez footage into HD.  Would it be possible to subtlety turn down the sharpness a second or two before and after the lower rez clips too make the transitions less noticeable?  I guess each clip has its own special issues.

And before I forget.  Thank you very much, and keep up the good battle.

Hi, I'm new here. I had to join just so I could beg you to please sent me info on how to get these AVCHDs.

I have episodes I through V in AVCHD format, but no Return of the Jedi. While searching around for a good Jedi file, I found this thread. These sound great and i just have to have them. Please don't make me watch those pitiful Return of the Jedi DVDs again.

Thank you very much Harmy, both for the PM and the Welcome.

With my 10 year old computer; there isn't much I can contribute. It has just enough power to make AVCHDs for my Blu-ray players, but not enough to actually watch them on it.

Hopefully the economy in Northern Indiana (Michiana) will pick up soon, so I can finally afford to make a new PC.
