Seems that the problem would be in keeping the new duel, and its sounds, but in removing the new music and possibly the slowdown of Ben's death.....between the 2004 DVD, Revisited, and Purist.....does anyone think they have the know how to pull this off? (after that, restoring the conference room audio should be a piece of cake)

I think the fix is simpler than you're envisioning it. If I understand the problem rightly, all you'd need to do is use ANH:R as a base, then replace the entire duel scene with the video + audio from Purist...unless I'm missing something.

If this is a project you'd like to undertake, then I direct you to this guide. It will teach you all that you need to know.

Seriously, what you're proposing is neither difficult nor time-consuming. Assuming you've got the necessary software (basically, DVDDecrypter and Womble MPEG Video Wizard) and both the Revisited and Purist DVDs of this movie, it should be a cinch. Most of the time investment would constitute actual ripping of the elements and rendering the final project; as far as editing time itself is concerned, we're talking 5-10 minutes max. As far the conference room audio, that could easily be accomplished in Audacity 1.3, which allows 5.1 AC3 editing. (I'm assuming Ady didn't include any audio bleed of the music into the center channel.)

Not sure that its going to be THAT simple.....at least not for the duel. Problem is, the one I see in MY head has Adywan's visual edit, but not the music he's added.......unfortunately I think he's gone and edited the audio for the lightsaber battle to match his improved visual....I probably couldn't use the audio from the purist, nor the 2004 because the lightsaber hits and swings probably wouldn't match Adywan's faster paced battle....so how would I separate one audio element that I like, from one that I dont?

You seem like you know at least a little about this. Would you be at all interested in helping out?
