Look at the numbers again. It was not that dumb. And trust me, I would have won easily without that trade.
However, my trade with Anchorhead... ;-)

But I gave Lidge away just before he got hot, and Strasburg got injured as soon as I got him.
The Strasburg thing was not dumb, it was bad luck. If he didn't get hurt you probably would have gotten the better of the deal. The trade might not have worked out like you hoped, but it was not dumb.

Well, You didn't need the trade. But for me, No regrets at all. I have no doubt I'd be in worse shape if I hadn't picked up Cruz in that deal.
Dotel isn't an issue. I made the trade to get Cruz. Dotel was just an add-on as a back-up. Truthfully, having seen him pitch in person several times many years ago (former Astro), I'm surprised he's still playing.
Plus I have no problem at all with my decision to go with Chris Johnson at third and Rolen as his back-up.
THE PHILLIES ARE NL EAST DIVISION CHAMPIONS for the 4th year in a row!!! We beat the Nationals 8-0. I have feel sorry for Nationals fans. Phillie fans completely took over their park. If you heard the crowd but weren't look at the tv, you would think the game was in Philadelphia. There were way more Phillies fans there than National fans. If I were a Nationals fan, I'd be sick to my stomach right now. But, fortunately, I'm not.
When you are down, lift your head off the ground
There's a lot to be learned, so look around
Once there was a silly old ant
Thought he'd move a rubber tree plant
Everyone knows an ant can't
Move a rubber tree plant
But he had high hopes, he had high hopes
He had, high apple pie in the sky hopes
So when you start to feelin' low
'stead of lettin' go,
just remember that ant
Hoop there goes another rubber tree
Hup there goes another rubber tree
Hoop there goes another rubber tree plant!
When you are down, get your chin off the ground
There's a lot to be learned, so look around
Once there was a silly old ram
Though he'd butt a hole in a dam
But anyone knows a ram can't
butt a hole in that dam
But he had high hopes, he had high hopes
He had, high apple pie in the sky hopes
So when you start to feelin' low
'stead of lettin' go,
just remember that ram
Oops there goes a billion kilowatt
hup there goes a billion kilowatt
Oops there goes a billion kilowatt dam!!
GO PHILLIES!!!!!!!!!!
So here's some drama for the league:
I need 28 K's to pass Sluggo for 10 points in K's. Sluggo is done (over his innings max) and I have 14.2 IP left. I have one start Saturday and two on Sunday, plus a few reliever innings most likely. If I can get 20 K's from my three starts, I'll need 8 K's from my 4 relievers over the next three days.
CAN IT BE DONE?!?!!!???!
*dramatic chord*
(in more dramatic news, Warb has a slim 0.5 lead over Anchors for sixth place)
Stick a fork in Sluggo. He's done.
He also finished second. Well done.

Well done? That is rare!

I gotta tell ya, there's part of me that doesn't really care for that. ;-)
I feel like I did a fair job at rebounding after taking several weeks off, plus having 4 guys going on the DL at once when I checked back in - even managing to crawl out of the cellar. However, I'd like to finish as strong as I can. I'll play these last three days to the finish.
catch me if you can.
6 K's from 3 relievers yesterday. 22 to go...
Well, Billy Wagner finished his career with a bang. Struck out 4 batters today and got the save. He had a very good year overall, but I guess he just feels like it's time.
Fellas,
I enjoyed the hell out of it. As a life-long baseball nerd, everyone I know has mentioned that fantasy baseball would be right up my alley. Not sure why I never jumped in before now.
I'm either attending local or watching televised road games every night of the week during the season, as well as attending games to cities I visit regularly even planning my trips around the home team's schedule. Some trips are made specifically to see baseball. You'd think I have enough to hold me. Truth is, fantasy ball fit into my baseball world nicely. Great way to keep up with more teams and players. Great stuff. I learned a lot about how it works and look forward to learning more.
Frink, if you go again next season and have enough to make a league, I'm in. If not, I'll land somewhere. There's no going back now. Thanks again, man.
I glad to hear you enjoyed it, Anchor. I wouldn't consider this league a full success (given that half the league never showed up), but if you, Warb, and Sluggo (I think all first timers) have had fun and want to do it again, then the league definitely accomplished something positive.
I'm up for it again. This time around I'd only want players who want to stay involved, so I'd be willing to try less teams if necessary (I'm sure Ripplin will like the sound of that). In fact, there's no reason we couldn't do an AL-only or NL-only league if we only have the five of us again.
Thanks for sticking with it guys, I really appreciate it.
It wasn't so much having less teams, but having everyone play. That's what bugged me. I just had a feeling it would happen from the beginning, when you had such a hard time getting the ten. Then it was 'surprise, surprise, people aren't showing up.' :p I know you were really stuck on the industry standard of a ten team league, but at least in my five team league, everyone played every day. Heh. HEH. My league commish has been doing it for many years and knew to only ask a select few so as not to throw things off. (no offense intended, especially as you also know the score, commish-wise)
^I'm saying that mostly for others who are newer to the scene, not so much Frinky, who digs.
How would one go about doing an AL or NL league? If it's just 'don't pick guys from the other league' during the draft, you just know there would be mistakes made.
I can set it up so you only have the option of one league or the other. No mistakes to worry about :-)
Neat-o.
They should have a fantasy fantasy league where it's all legends. Dibs on Babe Ruth! Can I have him as a hitter and pitcher? Heh.
You might look into simulation baseball (I think that's what it is called). I think you can play any era you want.
It was a good experiment. I might foray into other fantasy sports as well. But yeah, count me in for next time.
I had fun clobbering almost all of you.
I wish I had remembered football season was coming, we should have done that. Less teams, less games, easier for me to get involved.
I probably would have been another no-show on this baseball thing. I feel bad, even though I wasn't even involved!
