...DO YOU REALISE HOW MUCH PEOPLE ON THESE BOARDS DISLIKE YOU AND YOUR STUPID REPLYS TO EVERY QUESTION THAT SOMEONE ASKS ?

Well, certainly not me. And I'm sure I'm not alone. And I'm sure of that, just as much as you are sure of what you rhetorically asked in the above quote.

NOT TO MENTION HOW YOU FILL UP THE OF TOPIC SECTION WITH MINDLESS DRIVEL ).

Well, as it is the Off Topic section, you're bound to have off topic threads, so anything goes. Well, mostly anything. But the point is, don't flame him just because he wants to be helpful. There's nothing wrong with him answering questions, because this is a public forum. The more answers the better. What if nobody answered?

And furthermore, as a non-native english speaker, I appreciate his grammatical corrections, because I think it's important to use proper grammar. I always try to improve, in fact as I was writing this post I looked up how to spell rhetorical.

leonardo , you get no respect for being a kiss ass,

Alright, Alphabetty is now the newset addition to my ignore list.

Why have I had to use it so much lately?  This is saddening me.

Don't worry, Alphabetty ain't going to be around much longer.

What I like about the prequels?

There are only three of them.

Author
Time

I'm really, really shocked to hear people put TPM as their "favorite."  It's an awful, AWFUL movie.

That said, things I like about it:

Liam Neeson

okay, moving on

I liked Christopher Lee's character in AOTC.  I liked the clones/gunships/battle.  It wasn't tactically very sound, but it was neat.  Like a big videogame.  I liked the bugs, especially the king bug's voice.  Um...hm. I liked the Jango/Kenobi scene on Kamino, as others have said.

ROTS:

I liked Palpatine's office.  I thought the music was the best of the prequels; his "seduction" of Anakin at the opera was good.  Uh...liked seeing the Tantive IV interiors again, that felt really cool.  Crispy Anakin was neat. Oh, and the fall of the Jedi + the music there was brilliant, I think.  Gave me chills.

So yeah, they ascend in order of watchability from 1-3.  1 is just...it's fucking awful. There's no other way to put it.

Author
Time

I highly disagree.  1 is the most watchable, 2 is the least watchable.  3 is a muddled mess of a movie, but the middle section isn't nearly as terrible as 2.  The first and last third are much worse than TPM, though.

In my opinion, Ep. 1 contains both the best and the worst parts of the PT. But overall, yes, definitely the most watchable of the three. I think that's due in part to the fact that Ep. 1 actually feels a little tiny bit like there was some emotional involvement. Ep. 2-3 both feel cold, lifeless, shallow, and mass-produced.

Also, Alphabetty, I'd like to request some clarification if I may. So apparently it's classy to use swear words as long as you asterisk out one of the letters, thus mitigating the "offensiveness," but it's redneck and vulgar to actually spell the swear words out? If I have understood you rightly, then please respond and explain by what twisted use of logic you arrived at this brilliant* conclusion.

^Don't forget the part where it's classy to call another member's mom a whore.

Author

Well of course that's classy. What kind of idiotic inbred redneck trailer trash would think otherwise?

No, no, no; that .gif is all wrong. Those people (except for the sombrero dude) are all in and around houses and office buildings. Redneck trailer trash, if my information is good, tend to hang out in and around trailer parks.

Perfect!

Now see, if they'd just replaced Jar-Jar with that guy, the PT would've been much more enjoyable.*

Things I liked:

Overall: The score.  John Williams did not disappoint.

Episode I:

*The visual design of Naboo.  Beautiful.

*Seeing the Jedi in action.  It's not as unnecessarily flashy and over-the-top as in the other prequels.

*Coruscant and the senate chamber, also stunning.

*The final light saber duel. A lot more believable and less face-palming than in the other PT duels.

Episode II:

*Coruscant again.  If not for the speeder silliness, this could have been a great opportunity to explore the dark underworld of Coruscant.

*Kamino.  The dark, stormy waterworld with bizarre tall aliens really added to the mystery.

*Arena scene on Geonosis (before the Jedi arrive).  Also interesting and tension-filled to see how the Jedi operate with no lightsabers.

*Count Dooku.  An intriguing character I wish had been explored in more depth.

Episode III:

*The opening battle.  A great way to kick start the film, though it was quickly lost in the droid silliness/implausibility of the elevator escape.  If you had never seen AOTC, you might actually believe Obi-wan and Anakin are friends.

*Dialogue between Anakin and Palpatine.  McDiarmid really shines here.

*Anakin's fear of loss turning him to the dark side.  This really makes this a classic tragedy.  It could have been executed better of course.  I would have liked to see the brutal nature of war play a role in his turn as well.

*The duel.  I liked it well enough until all the hopping on the lava river near the end.

*Yoda/Sidious duel.  I hated most of it, but the idea of them fighting in the senate chamber was interesting.  I liked the later stages when they were fighting mostly with throwing pods and lightning.  After all, Yoda had to do something about Palpatine, and it was nice to see that.

*The closing scenes.  I enjoyed finally seeing Alderaan.  Seeing Palpatine and Vader overlooking the Death Star was spine-chilling the first time I saw it.  Delivering Luke on Tatooine really tied up the film nicely.

Episode one is watchable?

Clearly we live in different universes.

Author
Time

Just face it - a lot of people prefer Ep 1 to Ep 2 or 3.

Author
Time

I would say it's "more watchable" than Ep. 2-3; not "watchable" in and of itself.

In the same way, a feces milkshake would probably be easier to gulp down than a feces sandwich. Nevertheless, when all is said and done, they both taste like shit.

Woah woah woah. I thought for sure that opinions about the quality of films were universal and unchangeable.

I never said it was good.  Watchable is a possibility, but that's even stretching it.

I'm just saying that Episodes II and III are such shit that Episode I can't help but be better in comparison.
