J, what's the source of that image?

DE, the image of the Mos Espa house was someones holiday photo in Tunisia of the SW sets and the speeder was a very good life-size replica, all images found on Google images.
Bingo, the image looks fine on my page...what resolution are you running at?
J
It's not the resolution it's the size, if the image is too large on screen and over runs the tram-lines of the forum format it can shunt the thread along.
If people want to see the image in all it's glory (and it is glorious) they can right click and open it in another page.
Sorry Bingo, didn't realise.....I've resized the original image, but I'll use the method you suggested next time.
J
Cheers Jaitea.
Still haven't got round to speeding up the lift doors yet, but as everyone's gon chasm crazy.......

It's rather fun in motion but it's a bit jarring when it pops out of shot and we are back to gray.
I thought it might be cool if Vader did a Darth Maul and revealed himself to Obi-Wan from behind an opening set of blast doors but I can't seem to find a set to do the trick.
Another thing that might be interesting is with a structure as large as the Death Star there would be internal weather so it might be interesting to see some clouds in these artificial canyons.
I don't actually think that it'd be right if Vader appeared behind a blast door, it would rest drama to that duel... I mean, there are lots of scenes of lightsabres in SW... some of them are fights (Maul vs Quigonn, Dooku vs anakin and obiwan, Palpatine against windu, Obi vs Grievous) but there are others that are actual duels which have a strong dramatic meaning and connotation. Both Obi Wan vs anakin/vader duels must have that drama thing, even if the ROTS duel kinda crossed the line between fight and duel...I mean they were best friends... It mustn't be just hate... It must have a sense of disappointment, nostalgia, you know, actually I'd have chosen the Anakin's betrayal theme instead of Battle as Ady did.
I wasn't going to have it as a surprise thing (as with the jump open doors seen elsewhere) more a slowly opening iris door like the one Han has just jumped through and the one which will eventually close the duel when Luke shoots the lock.
At the moment Vader is just standing there and to be honest seems rather lost in that corridor.
From Vader's point of view it's his final show down with his former master.
From Ben's it's a whole new beginning, possibly his final lesson to Anakin too.
Vader/Anakin would later sacrifice his physical life to save Luke in much the same way Ben is about to here so in terms of a special edition giving this scene a bit more a dramatic opening would make sense as (even if Lucas didn't know it at the time he shot it) it's a pivotal moment of the saga.

It looks great! Hard to believe you did this in such a short period of time.
As mentioned, colors do stand out a little bit when we cut-away from that thing. All of a sudden everything is gray again. So maybe it's possible to make that thing a little bit darker and make it glow. And then put some reflection on the bridge, so when we cut away form it - we can still feel that it's there.
I understand it might be hard to do it in motion, so a little mock-up would be great!
EDIT: Ok, I tried to come up with a mock-up and I discovered that I'm not very good at this XD
So about those colours - it's great what Adywan did but maybe they shoudn't be gray, maybe they should be a little more interesting. And take a look at those lights next to doors - shouldn't they be red also (I tried to color them, but stopped midway through)?
And here's what I meant about that reflection -
I rendered it again without that layer...

If the walls are to be gray, then this looks more fitting, actually.
Looks very good IMHO.
It would be neat if someone tried to make the corridors of the Death Star like the black gold corridors of Nostromo.
Actually, It would be neat to see all of the death star have a touch of Nostromo. Of course it would contradict the sterile look of the imperial architecture.
"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Jaitea I much prefer your electric whirligig without the pink.
It also explains why those bridges are retractable in the first place.

I agree, makes it look more Star Warsy, and more imperial for that matter.

THAT!!!
Mr J: Go for the motion on that clip.
I still have to make a new matte for that..

Were there ever any official motorised mouse droid toys made?
It would be relatively easy to do the old Batman telly show thing of filming one on a flat girder and tilting the image to match the lines of the matte.
You guys really do rock. I'm loving these mockups and vids.

I could actually see it being fairly easy to build one from scratch. Anybody with some RC car knowledge should be able to.

Thanks to Bingo and Mr J, they pointed out wisely that any needs more energy beams and less metal works. From that point this will makes more sense and focusing of how several aspects and parts of the movie can be enhanced/replaced with the ways like the above :)

Which scene do you imagine them in Bingowings? I could make a wee CG one pretty quick.
J
The Ben scene above is an obvious place to put one climbing up the pipes.
In the detention block they could be scuttling around like rats.

While we are on the subject where are the foreground objects in the bottom shot supposed to be in the top shot?
Im aware of this:
Since we can go a more beam effect to that tho we can erase them for sure :)

They could be alternate emitters or vents for the main emitter (or access tubes for those wall crawling mouse droids).
It might be fun if the upper ones swiveled like search lamps.
It's a very short clip.....the mouse droid isn't lit right and perspective not spot on either, but it'll show the concept.
