Wow, that's kind of weird. It reminds me of this guy at work. Well, he's in LA and I'm in Boulder. I talked to him on the phone for probably three months before meeting him in person. I also have a mostly undeserved reputation as some kind of god around here (when someone asked me if I was a god, I said 'yes') and this guy was picking up on it and being very deferential to me. Then I met him in person. I'm already younger than most people I work with, but I also look younger than that. This was a couple of years ago, so I suppose I looked like I was about 20, though I was actually 25 or 28- somewhere in there. At any rate, he just immediately lost all respect for me. He did a double take and then incredulously asked, "So... YOU are the great xhonzi?" "Yeah," says me, " a little disappointing. Isn't it?" And he didn't know how to respond to that. So he didn't.

I think he felt so manipulated over the whole thing that he ended up sort of stepping on me every time he got the chance. Ah, well... that's office politics for you.

Well, back to being fed peeled grapes.
