3D STAR WARS for the masses...has ARRIVED! — Page 6

I wonder how much episode I would have to make to be considered a success by LFL. I know it feels like Star Wars is still a big deal if you're inside the bubble, but I'm not sure anyone else really cares. The cartoon is a relative success, but on the other hand it can't beat reruns of Jersey Shore.

On the plus side, when the prequels make fuck all and the OT make a shit load the truth about his two trilogies might finally hit Lucas.

Didn't Mark Hamill predict this? The Smellivision version is next!

George Lucas was seduced by the dark side. The OOT ceased to exist in his mind and became the Special Editions...." "They're more maching now than movies. Twisted and evil."

This is cool! Why? Well, I'll tell you why -

I didn't see OT in theatres, because I was very, very... semen at that time. And here's my chance to see it on the big screen! It's fantastic!

Yeah, they'll probably use the Special Edition with all the crap I hate, but it's not that big of a deal for me. I will use my imagination and remove the special additions in my mind. XD

And it sucks that they are releasing PT first, but the good thing is that - PT will be an experiment.

They just said they don't know how the fudge they will do a lot of the stuff, so they will have to figure it out and experiment on TPM.  And when the time comes to convert the OT - they will know WHAT to do exactly.  And also they will know what the fans loved/hated about the previous convertions.

I'm not a fan of 3D, I'm not a fan of Special Editions and I'm certainly not a fan of the prequel trilogy, but I'm pretty excited for this.

005 is right.  They're going to throw huge amounts of money at pointlessly making them all 3D, yet somehow they can't afford to restore the originals?  Why that lying piece of $#&@!

What an excremental waste.

Absolutely terrible. The PT ruined everything once, now anyone that is a glutton for punishment gets to see them altered AGAIN to this 3D fad crap.

The article stated the rest of the films will come out one each year "depending on how well TPM does."

Ummmm.... Who the FRAK wants to pay Lucas AGAIN to sit through TPM, even if it's 3D?

I'd rather sit through Yogi Bear in 3-D than TPM again.

Avatar was a one-off theme park ride movie, but other than that I don't care for the process at all. I'd rather have good scripts, good stories, good characters.

It wasn't immature 3-D technology that George was waiting for, it was the truckloads of cash James Cameron is rolling in that Lucas has seen.

This will be like 1997 all over again! Except way more embarrassing to be seen at!

You sound kind of irritated, is that because of the word semen or because I didn't see Star Wars on the big screen? Cause if that's because of the last one then - what can I possibly do? I wasn't as lucky as you guys...

Dear George Lucas,

Go cram it with walnuts.

Irritated?  Nah, I just didn't want to think about your father's semen.

Didn't George want to make art films again? Why doesn't he go off and spend his money on that instead of feeding us expensive 3D movies which will come out on expensive 3D Blu-rays which require expensive players, expensive TVs, and expensive glasses to wear. He won't even see money for the last three!

If he thinks 3D technology is up to his specifications already, why did it take him right up to the death of DVD to release his movies on it? 3D hasn't been popular for a year yet.

He should just re-release the OT, but in 2D and use the original version. Just re-release the same movie they showed in 1977. Man, I'd love to see that... the opening scene on the big screen... that would be fantastic!

Who wants to bet that the good people here at OT.com can produce 1080p OOT in 3D before GL's TPM hits theatres... and in better 3D?

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

"[George Lucas] rebooted the franchise in 1997 without telling anyone." -skyjedi2005

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM

"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.

Rewrite the Prequels!

With the movies in theaters this is an opportunity to have some of the digital projectors break down, leaving a film version which just happened to be handy to be shown instead.

I'd love to go see the OT in 3D.

I dont see what the big deal is. It's not like the OOT isn't getting a good release because of 3D technology. It's not getting a good release because Mr. Lucas is a douche about it.

I'd be stoked to get to see Star Wars on the IMAX 3D.

Wow, I can honestly say that this will be another SW release by Lucas that I won't be apart of.  If you would have told me this about 10-15 years ago that I wouldn't give a shit about anything SW-related, I would have said you're crazy.

Since the GOUT, that is when I had enough of Lucas as that is really when I changed as a SW fan and realized you vote with your wallet:

-Did not see the Clone Wars Movie

-Have not watched a single episode of the Clone Wars TV show

-Will not be buying the SW BluRay boxset of the SE (Shitty Editions) and the PT (Pathetic Editions.)

-Will not be seeing any of the SW movies in 3-D, even the OT movies.

Actually, if you don't go, you and the movies will be apart.

3D is a gimmick, not a product.

It is to cinema what Gatorade is to a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice.

I don't know...I watched Alice In Wonderland, not filmed for 3D but 3dified or whatever they call it.

It did actually work for me for that film because it created the feel of one of those paper theatre things (what we had before television).

The real problem with it was the shape of the frame which tended to break the illusion.

If the shots were composed to stop characters and other significant objects from being cropped by the frame it would be sustainable story telling element (like colour and sound).

Directors will either have to learn a new compositional language for making films in 3D or drop the oblong screen altogether and make films to be projected on giant concave discs.

I'd watch PT+SE3D out of interest but not until George restores the OUT2D.

This was exactly what I was thinking.  I actually enjoy the prequels but I know the majority when they hear 3D Star Wars want ANH or ESB.

The fact that ep. 1 is getting the first release and that we'll have to wait years to see ANH or ESB, is finally showing me that Lucas has finally really lost it.  I've held onto apologizing for him and continuing to watch clone wars.  But this strategy is just insanity.  He is avoiding production on the live action tv series because its going to cost too much, but will fund a 3D reproduction of ep. 1 which most people hate?

Of course those funds could go to ANH being full restored from 1977 as well which makes this all even worse.
