If it's only going to be used for the landing would that be a problem?
The only problem I can foresee is after that how do you open the second film?

I think it will. It was obviously a much larger ship IMO.... Which is weird... Why would a Senator's ship be larger than the Queen's? Weird.
And it does cause problems from AOTC for sure.... Trying to figure it out. =/

Why would a Queen be elected and serve a term? Who the hell knows what Lucas was thinking.
The ship was larger but if it's only to be used for the Queen's landing it's okay the living quarters and the cockpit area seem to be the same size (I think they used a plate from the TPM ship to created the interior in AOTC anyway).
It might be cool to replace the silverbird with the Republic cruiser anyway though that would be a lot of work.
I can't really see the point myself.
In terms of story telling (especially if the scenes are to be rearranged) it makes more sense to swap the Republic ship with the Queen's ship and have the Royal party return to the planet in escape pods before her ship lands on the Fed ship.
There are real world examples of elected monarchs serving fixed terms BTW.
I never had a problem with that aspect of an alien culture.
I can't see myself using that scene when it is that obvious it's a vastly different ship.
As for the rest of that, not sure I could accomplish that. Not saying someone else couldn't.
We need to discuss a BIG action sequence in the film:
The Podrace.
It's a cool looking sequence. But, there's no real danger as we know Anakin will live. He's racing for parts to a ship when he's been shown to build an entire droid and pod from......parts.
Shouldn't there be a more compelling reason for little Annie to race?
What if the race, or I should say the footage, was used for two separate races?
What if Anakin was introduced during the tail end of a podrace in which Sebulba cheats and Anakin crashes? The heroes dont interact with Anakin at that time but they witness it. Maybe even Obi-Wan witnesses it?
Then later the heroes interact with Anakin back at Watto's hovel.

I suggested earlier that there could be an added sinister side to all those kids in the slave quarter.
Watto and the other slave owners could be using them as jockeys because of their size but only Anakin has managed to stay alive on the circuit which is why the kids like him because as long as he stays alive they don't have to race.
It explains why as a slave he is relatively well looked after.
I'd drop the whole building Threepio bit though, that is just stupid.
If Threepio were to be in TPM at all it would be as a senatorial protocol droid dropped into the background on Coruscant and maybe the Queen's ship.
OK this one kept me up last night )I frickin hate it when that happens!)
the one thing the PT lakes is symmetry, GL has always said he wanted the movies to act like stanza's in a poem where they echo each other, well for me the PT doesn't really do that it doesn't seem to have a beginning middle and end.
here is what I would do
TPM -
One radical idea I saw mentioned on here was having Sidious removed from the movie entirely. and give Maul a more centralized role.
All the obvious stuff, like 3PO NOT being built by Anakin but have him as a aid to the Queen (none speaking part) on the ship, JARJAR re dubbed to not sound like a total turd and the battle droids dialog removed almost entirely. Make it a much bigger battle in space at the end and have anakin intend to do all the things he does no more OOPs crap
As I stated some days before on here - have Palpatine and Yoda have a meeting at the end of the movie where they discuss the impending threat that the separatists may cause and that a clone army may be the only answer (ADR may very well be required for that one I know), Dooku could be in this meeting as well for when Obi wan calls to inform them of the sith's death. (I would love to hear what you guys think of this BTW)
AotC -
Have the Deleted scene of Padmé looking out the window at Anakin (this is the only scene filmed that I think shows Padmé to have any hint of an attraction to him and needs to go back in.
When Anakin is in the garage confessing the murder of the sand people have him confess to Palpatine and then have Padmé come in as he collapse to the ground saying "I miss her so much"- so she falls for someone who is heartbroken and not a mass murdering psychopath! (this will add some of the above mentioned symmetry to it and RotS)
Again have 3PO in the background of the apartment scenes in a couple of shots
As for RotS -
I am going to watch BOBGarcia's edit before I can really comment on this on
again please let me know what you guys think of this
Have Anakin

I can't wait for the next Star Wars review from RedLetterMedia. They did an awesome job reviewing TPM and AOTC. Now it's time to review ROTS. And I can feel it's gonna be awesome. I hope there's gonna be some interesting idieas for Bob to incorporate in his edit.
Oh and also I'd like to bump up this review if anyone hasn't seen it. This is part 2 and I just can't stop laughing at the part starting from 2:16 (about that thing Obi is riding).
The Gungans should have their own language. This would be a great way of throwing in new dialogue and somewhat alter their personality. Jar Jar, crazy as it sounds should be played by a woman (albeit in a deepened voice).
Something else we need is people calling Obi-Wan "Ben". Most likely General Grievous and many of the non-Jedi characters.
Likewise the multiple battles in The Phantom Menace ought to be reduced by:

This I disagree. Anakin should be the important one. He shouldn't put the ship on auto pilot, but kick ass in that space fight on his own. That would show us that that kid has some serious balls and an enormous potential. That should make us believe that he is good and willing to sacrifice himself in order to help others.
The Kenobi/Jin vs. Maul duel, as cool as it looks, is pure ass. Why is it important? How is it more important than thousands of droids trying to invade a planet?
But I like the rest of your ideas.
AOTC:
Cut footage of Jango Fett flying into the arena, and have him appear with Dooku at the lightsaber duel. Then we can see Dooku/Fett vs Anakin/Obi.
How in the world would you accomplish that?
^Action figures obviously.
GLORIOUS STOP MOTION!
Derp, I forgot who Vader23 was.
Stop motion is awesome.

Yes! I totally agree and I'm not just saying that because Ben is my name :D
I felt the duel was pretty much the whole point behind The Phantom Menace. It's the Jedi's first real battle in thousands of years, and the only unsuccesful part in Palpatine's plan (as he was forced to find a new apprentice).
But back on Jar Jar, it has occured to me that instead of being banished he should have escaped the city. With the Gungans being so perchant to war, Jar Jar could be established as a pacifist that left because he didn't want to join the army.
I think he knew full well what Maul's fate would be and didn't give a hoot.
Maul was just a calling card.
Just something I posted on Bob's thread. Maybe this idea can be used by other editors, too. Or inspire to do something similar -
OR you could just have Obi LEAVE! Imagine if Anakin lets Obi Wan LEAVE! The whole dialog they are having after Anakin get's shopped up - if you remove the chopping up part and let Anakin stay on the platform the whole time - imagine how awesome that would look!
They fight, they have their dialog, Anakin realizes he can't really beat Obi Wan and he lets him leave!
It would tie Episode III and Episode IV NICELY! Remember Vader says "When I left you, I was but the learner; now *I* am the master!"
Dude! My english sucks, but I really hope you understand what I'm saying here! And please consider doing this! Just consider! I know the whole burning and chopping thing looks pretty cool and it allows using the whole Vader transformation scene (which is also cool), but we could live without it and just imagine that Vader became robotic somehow in the time between EPIII and EPIV.
And, for example, those who will watch Star Wars for the first time - the whole "*I* am your father..." thing will remain a surprise! (That's of course if they don't know that Anakin eventually turns into Vader).
I've never heard an idea like this before, so I'm sorry if this has been mentioned.

Wow, I'm surprised, I actually REALLY dig that idea! But I'd maybe remove the dialogue, and just have them stare at each other, maybe that would be more powerful, or it my just look strange that they just akwardly stare at each other.....

But it's not much a of a dialog anyways. Just Obi Wan expressing his disappointment.
Anyway, I can't stop thinking about this. I REALLY WANT THIS IDEA COME TO LIFE. It's the best way to go. It respects both trilogies and has more of an impact, if you think about it. You just saw two friends fighting each other. They couldn't beat one another, so they decided to settle this some other time. They didn't lose RESPECT for each other and I think that's important.
