If they didn't feature or mention any of the characters or events in the PT ... maybe.

I'm going to amend my ideas for what I'd be interested in seeing in a new film, to include the above post.  I have zero interest in hearing any references to the prequels, including the laughably childish character names.

I could imagine George making new films with a wiser much older Jar Jar Binks as the guardian.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

And who can forget the awesomeness of Mara Jade?

I certainly cannot. Am still pissed over her fate.

Worst decision they ever made, and that's in a long line of really bad ones.  Hell, they didn't even have the decency to inform Zahn about it beforehand.  Idiots.

Just one more thing that must be struck from the record of ever having happened . . . With all the rubbish going on, it's damn hard to be a Star Wars fan sometimes.

But then you remember the things that actually are good, and celebrate them, and that makes things mostly okay.  :)

That takes me back to the first three movies.  I find the movies much more enjoyable when they don't exist in an expanded universe.  That's my opinion.  If I don't have to think about IG-88 lurking around the death star before Lando blows it to smithereens, the other faults of the movie are tolerable.

After having seen the prequels, get worse and worse, and then the Clone Wars ... I don't have any hopes that the current people at Lucasfilm would do a very good job, so NO, I do NOT want Lucasfilm to make another Star Wars movie in the immediate future.

Perhaps in a decade or so, when perhaps GL's kids run the franchise and are (hopefully) wise enough to hire good people to do episodes seven, eight and nine RIGHT.
