Has it been considered adding slight shaking to the scenes aboard the Falcon at the end?  During the asteroid chase, everyone in the Falcon is swaying left and right, but after the escape from Bespin during the dogfight with the TIEs, everyone in the cockpit and also 3P0 and R2 are still as if the ship is docked somewhere.

I didn't think Ady was using photoshop. I was assuming there was an equivalent of photoshop but for moving images but that the basic image editing principles were the same.

I know what you meant. I just laughed that you presented the process so easy :P photoshop magic and stuff :)

Well as you can see they are shaking when they are been hit from ties. And the ties are not always manage to take the shot. They want to lead them to executor not destroying them.

Im more to add laser blasters outside the cockpit here and there rather adding shaking :)

I'm sure Ady is using After Effects to do the comps, but he wants to do it the way it was done in 1980, shoot real physically existing models in front of blue-screen, which is awesome and should look way more authentic and real than CG can ever hope to.

Ady, I'm personally more interested in what kind of equipment will be used to shoot the new models, life action extras and such. Will you be renting real studio equipment and a professional HD camera?

As long as it's not the J.J.Abrams (SP) kind of shaking. That fake overused shaking (what I like to call the Tweeker Shake) is horrible.

yeah its terrible i wonder how it would look in pan n scan

Any specific examples of the Tweeker shaking?  I'm sure you're speaking of STAR TREK, but I can't really think of anything that was annoyingly obvious... as compared to the camera shaking when Sean Connery was sitting in the humvee (sitting in the garage) during the "chase scene" in THE ROCK.  That scene always has me cracking up.

BTW, any updates on the Falcon's flight path from the frigate at the end (flying away from us towards the star/galaxy, as opposed to wonkily off to the left)?

Not gonna post and clips as this is already off topic lol but the Tweeker Shaking examples I can think of are the one's where there is no action going on but the camera still shakes, zooms in/out for no reason other than just to have movement that has nothing to do with the action going on. Also there always seems to be something in one of the lower corners that is always out of focus that is there without reason.

I'm sure any shake that Ady adds will be within the context of the story/action going on and we dont have to worry about the Tweeker Shake.

There is a place for the shake but when its overused like J.J's (not all scene's but some) and some other copycat riding directors, it just come's off as annoying, deliberate, forced and unnatural.

Ady are you doing anything to the scene where Bossk is standing futher back from the edge of the SD crew pit and then he appears closer with his toes hanging over the edge?

I've seen that shake on Voyager a few times. It's so obvious. At least when Ady added the shake when the SDs scrape against each other, the actors were all stumbling and falling, not sitting still. Looks good.

The Bossk thing is interesting, but I could see him stepping forward just to intimidate them, with that "glare" on his face. Never bothered me. I can't remember if Ady has commented on that or not.

Please, lets not change every single thing in the film.....Dodgy fx...sure...cool characters in their one and only scene..please...Lets leave old Bossssk alone

I agree 100% with not changing it either just wondered if he was doing anything with it. I always loved the Bossk moment, maybe Ady will add some facial expressions similar to the Cantina scene in ANH:R, just to give it that extra "Oh Really?" moment.

Bossk makes a comment (in his language) and his lips nor jaw move at all.  It would be nice to add some subtle touches like eye blinks and some jaw/lip movement to account for the sounds/speech he is making.

But if you look at the scene he has already finished the comment before we cut to see his face so he isn't saying anything when we see him

Exactly....Adyman, I really dig what you're doing with this film, but some things are just best left the way they are..................

Unlike a certain snowflake....which, just like the grain of sand, you're not going to change....

Stupid old jokes aside..I really am looking forward to seeing this version a 100 times more than I was SW:R, only because this is my absolute favourite film of all time....

I thought you said somewhere earlier that you gave him some facial articulation.

Yes i did, but if you read the comment i was replying to he was talking about adding movements to account for his speech, which Bossk has already finished speaking before the camera cuts to him

Does anyone have a high-res picture of the matte painting used in this shot?

I assume i have most of the OT saga mattes that ILM used. This was from a private collector that gave it to me in studio scale that was originally used.

For example the bespin platform with the falcon matte is 6174x3456 px.

You can even see the painted strokes outside the frame :)

I see what i can do finding this for ya ady but i cant promise for anything :)

EDIT: He said no. :(

Angel, is your friend GL? I can't think of any other reason why someone would want to sabotage Ady like that.

And the crushed blacks in the 2004 version of ESB means i really can't use the original transport matte for my edit, so i'm stuck now

And i thought you will redo this shot with model props :(

I didn't see the matte when I took a quick look, but maybe StarWarsArchives.com can help?
