Hello then why did they see the A New Hope Special Edition and still fork the money to see the other two Special Editions. Oviously the must have liked the first movie. Warbler you are the jackass. Personally, i think that if a person is going to be posting on here, they should be required to sign the petition. It doesn't mean they have to run out and buy the original versions when (and if) they are released. I don't agree with his opinion on special editions, but i still respect his opinion. As long as he doesn't insult me in any way, shape or form, i have no problem with him.

Obviously the thrill of seeing the movies in the theatre again must have tempted them. It's not just about whether or not they like the changes to the first movie, jimbo; there's something about seeing movies in a theatre that cannot be duplicated @ home, no matter how good your HT system is.
The other reason people went to see the others in the theatres was curiosity. After seeing what GL had done with ANH, they wanted to see what had been done to ESB and ROTJ. Like or dislike of the SE, I can assure you, had very little to do with it.

ok here we go. i dont not thing jimbo should be banned just because he hasnt sign the petition. if someone does not believe something one way or another then he should not be forced to. banning him would be like banning me. i have not sign the petition either. why simply because i believe that fan pressure will not get GL to do anything. if HE wants to release it then he will if he doesnt then he would it is him choice and i personally believe that he doesnt care what the fan think in that specific matter. on top of that, i personally do not mind the OT over the SE and vis-versa in my mind they are the same movie, they have the same story's the same charaters and asides from the han shots first thing the same charater development. there is my 50 cents. i should also remind every one that i came here originally to talk about NJO and slowly moved into the other threads.

is THIS what we are aiming for, coz this is exactly what will happen. we open this door even just once, it will get messy. i, for one, will NOT go for banning jimbo. he has done NOTHING wrong since he joined us. he is not selling kiddy-porn, advertising suicide or anything of the likes... he is a normal human being that happens to like the SE better than the OT. so??? let him, its his prerogative. he swears a lot? so??? if jay suddenly feels that jimbo needs to get banned, because of something he did, then jay will ban him, and bear in mind - like dayv said - that jay is the only one with the power to ban anyone from this site.

Jimbo is entitled to his opinion, but there's a fine line between playing devil's advocate and being a troll. People who like the SE are welcome here. I'm not going to say you have to sign the petition to post here, but it makes very little sense to do so, and is IMHO a trollish tendency.

Differing opinions are welcome though, they fuel the discussion which is good... IF they are done politely, jimbo you are not particularly polite IMHO, if the language is not cleaned up then I think a banning is in order.

I know this is a dead thread but I've got to respond to motti.

Why do you think that I'd be in danger of being banned, if Jimbo were banned. For one thing I HAVE signed the petition! I perfer the O OT over the ruined OT. And I believe the only one I've insulted lately is Jimbo. Oh and Motti one other difference between me Jimbo is that if you had said to Jimbo what you said to me his responce would propably be somthing along the lines of "go f*** (without the censoring) yourself Motti" I of course don't do that. I know when I first came to this forum I was rude and insulting. I have learned my lesson, and regret how I acted the past and I'm sorry. But now I think it is time for Jimbo to learn the same lesson by being banned or least given a temporary ban say for 6 months. Of course I don't have the authority to ban him that belongs to Jay. I'm just giving my opinion thats all.

Luke, when it comes down to proper behaviour and application of respectful language when being confronted with opinions of the other extreme, you're not really a paragon of virtue yourself. I think what truly might be bothering you is the similarity in your behavioural patterns with those of jimbo's at times. Starting a thread like this was clearly an overreaction on your side and puts him in a better light than you, imho.

You don't think I learned anything, you're entitled to that opinion. All I can say is that I try to be respectful of those that are respectful to me. Jimbo has not been. He's rude to more people than just me. And he's usualy the one that'starts it, and he's one that uses the worse language. As an example Master Sifo we have disagree before have I ever insulted you? I don't believe so. Luke asked if we thought Jimbo should be banned, I told him what I thought that's all. And this isn't about him thinking that ATOC is the best movie ever. I'm sorry you think there is too much aggresion in my posts, but I never said I was going to be a pacifist. After all, Jedis don't carry lightsabers for nothing.

okay im gonna clear this up once and for all

1. i dont want jimbo banned because he doesnt like the SE, or cuz he thinks AOTC is the best movie in the world... i just believe that the way he is treating people on here is going to lead to new members coming on here and starting to think its okay to bitch and swear at people... as you see through some complaints people do think he does have a little bit of language.. which is fine sometimes.. but dont direct it at other people...
i have said it before and i will say it again... i enjoy all versions of star wars... but the OT is my fave.. so im not a prequel or SE hater... i just think they werent as good as the OT... but its not like im saying the OT was the best movie in the world... im sure we can all say it annoys us to some extent when jimbo proclaims that without any "thats just my opinion" or "in my eyes it is".. but instead he brands it in us!!! lol
so thats my beef with him

2. someone mentioned i have done the same... well im not gonna say i havent told off jimbo before or acted like an ass to him because i have and i meant to... however its not like i said "jimbo your a f**king a**hole" because thats not my way of getting to someone... however in many of his posts he's been rather nasty to some people on here and i just dont think thats the way to go about it...
