Oh, come on, I was joking with the illegal thing from the begining and tried to imply by the way I wrote it that I was joking even in the reply to you :-D

Then all is good, we are both F'n around.

So many implications in this thread ...

Anyway, I mentioned in a thread in another part of the forum, but figure it's best to post it here, too:

Are there any pre-SE shots from Jedi in Empire of Dreams that can be used in this project?

And like I said in that thread in that other part of the forum: Not that I know of...

I figured this thread might be more heavily-trafficked, so if someone that reads this thread but not the other one happens to know of a shot or two, they could respond here.

I'd check myself, but I don't own the 2004 DVDs (just the GOUT, and I mailed all three Disc 1's to Lucasfilm as a protest ... never heard anything back).

I am curious, how will this Jedi version differ from what g-force, myself, and others are doing for the v3 Set?

Think Ady's ESB reconstruction.  Only a very small portion of the footage will be from the GOUT.

So your GOUT V3 set will be a true theatrical cut, whereas this will retain some of the less-obvious SE changes.

Good start.  Here's my suggestions:

1) Less feathering on the drop shadow

2) The drop shadow needs to be shifted more to the right and slightly down.

For reference, see this image of the theatrical subs from Empire of Dreams (taken from myscamore's thread; ignore the subs in the letterboxing):

--edit--

Also, the theatrical subs for both Star Wars and Jedi have this weird thing where, when a sub ends at a cut, it actually ends 3 frames before the cut.  I don't know if you want to replicate that or not.  It doesn't really matter to me, in fact I think it looks a bit weird that way.

Harmy, I like the new subs much better. The old yellow ones were too weird for me.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Harmy hows the edit coming on, are you making progress?

Yeah, I actually just encoded a workprint and will be uploading it for anyone willing to help to try and spot mistakes. It's a 1.2GB 576i AVC, so the quality isn't anywhere near the final DVD but it should be fine to check for mistakes. Anyone interested?

OK, the workprint's up, Chewtobacca and Erik, you've got a PM.

The main thing that concerns me is colours. I need you to tell me if you notice any sudden colour change from shot to shot somewhere. Or if the colours seem wrong somewhere (although that is based on opinion but I'd still like to hear your suggestions).

Also, although I'm pretty sure I didn't miss anything, please look for any remaining SE changes.

Thanks a lot, guys, I appreciate it.

Anyone else wants to help?

Thanks for the PM.  I shall post feedback as soon as I can, and try to comment on the colors.  I knew you had made some tweaks to the colors since the PDE, so I was planning to look out for those anyway. :-)

This looks nice, i also like some of the non controversial content that was added in 97. The theatrical classic cut will be first for me tho, i like the analog/film feel to it.

That looks stellar. Please, please, please put it in the reconstruction, as it would be stellar to have it be as close to the originals as possible.

Well, I am putting the original scene back in the reconstruction, only I am using KGAR Jedi, which is already anamorphic SD video, so the difference in quality would be very minor if I did it this way and believe me, it's a lot of work...

This thing has gone way beyond what I originally planed it to be. My original idea was that this would be basically just an SD version of the PDE Jedi, with a few more GOUT and KGAR shots spliced in but it evolved into an all new project and that is good, but it also means it may take a bit longer than I originally expected, especially with school coming up next week. I'm not particularly fond of After Effects and my work in it is quite slow but at least now I got some grasp of the basics and don't have to consult a "how to" video every time I try to do something :-)

OK, I tried a new version of the subs:

It's just one test shot. I think it works really well - I made the sub in photoshop and then added it to the footage in AE. I added a little blur, grain and shake to the subs  to make them appear more authentic. Tell me what you think.
