I like you went to a 3d way solution rather build props for the transports. hoping for more 3d action for sure :)
It can be interesting seeing some ships coming out of the hangar cave(if its kept) or some distant smokes behind the mountains from the aftermath.

I'm only using CG for things that i can't film with real models. Trust me, if i could have got hold of a good scratch built studio scale model of the transport i would have used that. CG should only be used that way. To use to film impossible things. Never when a real world object could be used especially when sets are concerned. Too many films go over the top with CG and it's one thing that is wrong with a lot of today's filmmakers. They just don't think how it could be filmed for real but instead they just say " i want this to happen so let's just CG it". Crap film making at its finest
And there are already ships coming out of the hangar and you wouldn't see any smoke behind the mountains because the battle was taking place to the right of the camera
