Wearing your seat belt isn't just for your safety it's for the safety of passengers in your car and for other people on the road when parts of your pointlessly dead corpse go flying through the window and wrap themselves around and/or slam into other vehicles and passers by.
I don't like the blanket smoking ban in pubs and restaurants, it's a pain the arse for some non-smokers left guarding the coats and bags and tends to lead to a huge pile of butts and drunken brawls outside which I can't see because I'm on guard duty.
I'd be all for having smoke free and smoking establishments (giving people a choice as to where to drink and where to seek employment) and better ventilation and smoking free zones in the smoking ones.
Sometimes vitamin supplements are a good idea if a Doctor advises you to take them you should listen and consider the advice but you shouldn't swallow tonnes of pills for no reason.
Eat well and walk in the sun a bit and you should get most of what you need.
Booze will not make you happy.
It will only remove your inhibitions so if you are hideously depressed or violently angry you are more likely to act on those feelings.
If you are feeling saucy or have an urge to get on the dance floor and do the funky chicken you are also more likely to act on those feelings.
Happiness is caused, usually by noticing chaotically generated acts of a nature beneficial to some aspect of your being and your brain generating chemicals which enforces your fight/flight power down mode.
It's fleeting and you really can't force it.
Like sadness it will arrive when you least expect it and depart in much the same manner.
Enjoy it while it lasts.
