None of them are 'my' series in the sense of being born from my culture (there are some British actors in BSG and some British/Australian money went in at the beginning it's pretty much international).
Farscape is an American/Australian series.
At the moment there's only Doctor Who that has a strong cultural connection but that's never stopped me from liking something.
Now the first four Star Wars films are arguably as much British films as American (same goes for the Alien films and Superman I and II), large quota of British actors, filmed largely on British soundstages by British technicians having English tea breaks, much to the chagrin of Lucas and Cameron.
The stories about the tea breaks during the filming of Aliens on the Quad Set were very entertaining.
Now that I think of it I only enjoyed the good old British series (with great french dubbs). I don't have a "good" french serie that comes in mind.
Thread is now opened !!!
Are you telling me you never watched Le Manège enchanté?
Some of the best telly on this or any other planet (especially when dubbed into English) :-P

Of course yes. I wasn't thinking of that children related series. In that case I think there were many that were great and never crossed the frontiers !
Children????
Damn your eyes Sir!
Damn your understanding of what I mean by Children. ;)
I suppose you are going to say Les Shadoks was for the kiddies too.
Hehe. That's the one I was thinking about since the begining !
Seriously though Pollux et le Chat Bleu was a savage prophecy about the dangers of untempered consumerism.
I can't imagine most children getting that or am I assuming too little of the political consciousness of young French people?
I don't see it like this. You can't get this when you are young indeed. But the "absurdity" of these things that an adult will catch (or not!) and the spirit applied to this kind of humour make it really enjoyable when you're a kid. And if an older spectator laugh next to the kid you are at that time, it makes it even better.
Nice to rediscover these things also when you've grown up and you can catch the other side of the meanings. It's not like a lot of products that you can only consume once. So when you say these series were a prophecy of the untempered consumerism, there were also justly what they didn't mean to be.

Translation of the first Shadok picture:
"If there's no solution, it means there's no problem".
Translation of the second Shadok picture:
"By trying continually, you'll end up with success. So: the more it fails, the more you'll bring chances of success".
... It couldn't be more dedicated here, neither more reasonable.
Now that I've finished with it, let the reasonable discussion resume
Fixed... and Thanks.

Don't you mean "addition"? Or is there an Ass-Hat Newsletter Column? If so... sign me up for that!

C3PX said: Gaffer is like that hot girl in high school that you think you have a chance with even though she is way out of your league because she is sweet and not a stuck up bitch who pretends you don’t exist… then one day you spot her making out with some skinny twerp, only on second glance you realize it is the goth girl who always sits in the back of class; at that moment it dawns on you why she is never seen hanging off the arm of any of the jocks… and you realize, damn, she really is unobtainable after all. Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.
Well, I meant edition, and thats what I wrote, but I guess addition would be better suited
I will look into newsletter ventures in a bit, perhaps I can whirl something up :-)

Which do you think is better:
Believe me or not, I haven't dared watching for the translation of this word yet. I indeed thought of something like your 1st image.
One more Shadoks motto ?
Better concentrating your intelligence on stupid things, than concentrating your stupidity on intelligent things.
... That's why most of us have registered on this site besides.
About 2nd BSG that show deteriorated after they left New Caprica to me. It stopped being about stuff happening and, became people recounting events. About the only thing that happened that wasn't forced was the mutiny and, they screwed that up by keeping Adama alive. Then to get the "bad" Cylons fighting the "heroes" for the finale they had to force things unrealisticaly. "Oh, it just so happened that a character that died previously was a Cylon too! and, Sharon just so hapened to get her hands on a box plus, sleeping juice. Oh and, Adama just so happened to have enough crew to pilot Galactica into a suicide save one little girl mission."
The final episodes of the series was mostly staring at cracks in the wall and, watching paint dry. While people cry, use the restroom, and throw up... Yeah....
I don't know about 1st BSG though. Haven't watched much of it. Mostly clips of the fighting scenes...

I'd say that the miniseries and seasons 1-3 were fantastic. Then the first half of season 4 is pretty good, while the second half is pretty mediocre, minus the mutiny storyline, which was excellent. I personally liked the finale, but it wasn't up there with the best of the show.
And Razor & The Plan were both terrible and unnecessary.

I don't think foreign curse words should ever be translated. There is no literal translation for a curse word, IMHO, it is always defined by the cultural context and usage. There is so much meaning, even in very short words, that wouldn't "make it to the other side" in a literal translation, if you know what I mean. I rarely look up the definition of a foreign curse word, when I hear a new one. Usually I let the context define it for me.
Hey, this could be really interesting, guys. Why, it could even deserve its own topic!
