I would say it was the lack of Darth Maul that was The Phantom Menaces biggest flaw. Much bigger then Jar Jar. Darth Maul was a great villian. I like how he looks like the devil.

Name one fight scen Han had in the OT.

I'm not talking throwing the odd punch or space battles or a couple shots into a crowd of stormtroopers.

maybe grievous is not a spoiler but any information that one does not obtain from the CW is a spoiler... please stop that.

if the abilities and his history are not covered in any official title, like CW then it is a spoiler; coz its rumour/specualtion/thoughts on/guesses.

But this logic seems to have been abandon in the PT.

Ladies and gentleman, George "Plot Holes" Lucas! *applause* *cheers*

Perhaps he was watching a lot of hong kong action flicks between 1983 and 1999, and changed his mind... and who knows what happens inside that mind?

Never heard that before. I assume they don't do all those moves because of the technological inferiority of the time.

No, I wouldn't blame technological limits. Hong Kong movies could do that with shoestring budgets, back in the 70s. But that kind of fast-paced amazing action sequence wasn't "mainstream" in america cinema until the 90s, when the hong kong way of doing action sequences was "borrowed" by the american film industry. If GL wanted to make an action flick that didn't look "dated" or "boring", he had to do it that way. And just think about it: it would be laughable back in the 70s having Alec Guiness jumping and flying all over during his fight with Vader, but it's kinda "cool" and acceptable now.

It looks silly when they speed up the camera. You need digital effects for realistic high speed fights which were not availble in 1977.

[sarcasm]That's right; digital effects solve everything, don't they, jimbo?[/sarcasm]

Still you could film a great fight scene using the right stunts, camera angles, photography tricks and wires, even in the pre-historical year of 1976. Have you ever seen a hong kong kung fu flick? I have eaten sandwichs that cost more than their entire movie budget; they did it mostly without computers, and still...

Heavy? A lightsaber blade is freaking made of energy! It has no mass. It has no weight. A small child could swing a Lightsaber

Finally we agree on something. Lightsabers are not heavy but they do generate heat.

if a child can hold, it can swing it... it can have inertia, but its not heavy.

You obviously didn't watch that episode 2 scene, in which a 6 year old child is a little brighter than Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi.

I think GL should include a scene just before that one:

"Hey Yoda, I was looking for a lost planet, but I've realized that it was erased from the files, I mean duh, of course. But let's see if those dumb kids you were trainning can figure that out. I'll come to your class, interrupt the whole thing, and ask that obvious question. Let's see if they can figure it out."
"Dumb those kids are not. Meditate on this I..."
"Oh shut up. Let's do it, right? Pretend you are surprised when you see me, ok? See ya later."
"Later I shall see you too."

oh dont even mention that scene...
why the hell it was included is beyond me...

you know what i've noticed with the prequels...
they have totally downplayed the power of the force... i mean when i first heard about the force i figured anyone who had this was one bad ass mutha******!
but now not only are kids smarter than jedi but we have it in everyone now with mediaclorians (sp?)..... and now we're wondering if droids (GG) has it?

couldnt he just have left it alone?

Greivous is not a droid he is a cyborg like Vader. Midichlorians explain why the force is stronger with some then others and why droids can't use the force.

i thought the scene with the kids was cool! so funny!

My apologies if I gave out something people consider to be spoilers.

Regardless, I'm still waiting for examples of Han Solo having fight scenes.
